Mastercraft Courser MXT vs BFG KO2

I am strongly leaning towards running 37x12.50r17 tires but unfortunately they do not make them in my beloved GY Duratrac. I am looking for a lightweight and road friendly tire that is also good off road. After a lot of searching I think I have narrowed it down to either the Mastercrafts or the BFGs.

I want a tire that looks rugged. A local discount tire had 37 inch Falkens so I had them mount them and instantly had them take them off. They looked like doughnuts. Pictures will be in next post.

I saw a couple pictures of the Mastercrafts and BFGs next to other tires that made me worry a bit.

Does anyone have the Mastercrafts? If so:

1. What are their mounted measurements?
2. How do they handle the road, ice, show, rain?
3. How would you rate the volume level?
4. Any issues with the tire?
5. Do you have any pictures of them? Preferably next to another 35 or 37 inch tire?

For people with the BFGS:

1. What are their mounted measurements?
2. How do they handle the snow?
3. Do you have any pictures of them? Preferably next to another 35 or 37 inch tire?

Picture 1: Falkens looking pathetic

Picture 2: bfg next to 35 inch DT looking sort of short and narrow found on here.

Picture 3: Mastercraft next to Pitbull same size 37/12.50. Not sure if they look small because PB run huge or if they are just small. Found on here. Need more pics please.

I had the Courser AT tires on a truck a while back. They were a good tire for the money and did pretty good in the mud as well, for an AT tire anyhow.

You might also look at the General Grabber AT tires. This is what I'm running right now and the tread is nearly identical to the BFG ATs at a fraction of the price.

When you get them post some pictures and let me know what you think.

I ordered the Mastercrafts today. I should have them on next week.

The garage ordered one in so I could see it beforehand. It measured a smidge over 36 inches un-mounted. I will post pictures and inflated/mounted numbers once they are on.

Awesome! How's the ride: smooth' bumpy? How's the road noise? What size did you get?

Not mine but when I saw this jeep, I circled back to get pics. I hadn't seen Mastercract Coursers prior to this jeep and started research. They have a great look but I couldn't speak in any other of your questions. (Sorry the pics are so bad - bright sun and couldn't see screen very well).

Great to hear that they are decently quiet and a smooth ride. I have not seen them on a Jeep in person either. I will have mine put on Tuesday in a 37x12.50r17. They really are a GREAT looking tire. I am very excited!

They look great Tony! I had mine put on today.

I had the 37x12.50r17 Mastercraft MXT installed today. I only have 40 miles on them but here are my observations and measurements:

1. They are very aggressive in person.
2. They are quiet! About the same amount of noise as the Duratrac that
they replaced which was minimal.
3. Very smooth ride, feel like an AT. No rough ride or bouncing around the
road like with BFG KM2s.

Measurements:

Tire Height: a smidge over 36 inches
Tire Width: 13 inches

THEY ARE A BIG TIRE!

Pictures to follow.

37 inch Mastercraft next to my neighbors 37 inch Hankook MT. Mastercraft look to be wider and a bit taller.

I can't complain! I paid $246 a tire plus there is a $15 dollar rebate per tire! $231 for a 37 inch tire is unheard of!

Thanks! I am very happy with them. Now I just have to get the air dam properly trimmed to they quit rubbing on it when I turn. Sounds like an amplified version of a baseball card in the spokes lol.

The rebate was through Mastercraft and says only valid if purchase made through Big 3 Tires or Mr. Tire. My place wasn't called either of those but I think it is who they get their tires through. Call your place and ask.

i had 37' ko2's put on two days ago. I'm in socal, so def no snow experience, and i've only put about 15 miles on them.... BUT, they are so smooth and quiet and ride well. they measured 35.45 at a smidge under 30 psi while on the vehicle. They are on the smaller side of 37's, and they are not super aggressive looking... basically everything i wanted haha. I know, i know... my post isn't much help, but i am happy with them... for what i personally wanted

love my MXT's, quiet mud tire, 80 mph on Atlanta freeways no issue, so far so good offroad, rocks, mud, whatever, price is 80$ a tire less than BFG, reviews on TireDepot were 48 positives out of 48

they look nice! ride nice!

I'm loving the MXT. No complaints yet. Huge, Super Aggressive, And Decently Quiet. I haven't done the pen and paper math yet but my dash says I'm getting 19 MPG!
