Max tire size on JK?

Hey guys. My friend bought a JK a couple months ago and he found a really sweet deal on some rims that are coming with some BFG Muf Terrain 255 75 17 tires. By my calculation they are apporximately 32x10. He won't be lifting it for a little while. I'd been told that my TJ couldn't handle 32s w/o a lift.

My question is can his JK handle 32s w/o a lift? He won't be doing much ORing for a while, if any at all. Could he get by with little clearance for now? Or would it just not work?

Thanks for any info!

That is a stock tire size for JKs. All Rubicons come stock with BFG 255/75/17.

I presume, of course, that he is certain the wheels will fit? Assuming so and that they have appropriate backspacing, he will have no problems.

^ Yep and 33s will fit with no lift too but there are rubbing issues if you don't have less than 4.5" of backspacing. You can run bigger tires on the JK stock than the TJ.

Cool thanks! I didn't realize that size was stock. I guess the tires don't look as big/impressive because of the 17" rims.

Apparently these tires came off a stock JK. Now he tells me!
