Max Towing with Unlimited

I have done done EXTENSIVE research on what you can pull with a wrangler unlimited. I am well aware that 3500LB is the max, due to the length of the vehicle. Ive learned that there are things you can do on vehicles that assist in towing as well. For example, a weight distrabution device as well as a sway controll system help tremendously while pulling or towing. In the case of the JKU, would this assist in towing with it as well?

Wranglers are well capable of pulling loads above their rated capacity.

I had to pull a 2500 pound tent trailer once with my 2-door Wrangler down some back roads. Handled it just fine. No swaying and braking was fine.

I wouldn't go over the limit, but weight distributing and anti sway hitches will make your towing easier and safer. Not all loads are the same. Boats tow easy because they are streamlined. Full height campers need to be towed with anti sway hitches. If you don't, you will after your first highway pull thru a windstorm. Don't forget trailer brakes for loads near your limit. Pulls around town may not need all the equipment. But, cross country pulls you will want all the equipment.

3500lbs is pretty much it on the Unlimited with 3.73 and up gearing. I tow a 22' pontoon which with boat and trailer combined is approx 3500lbs. Even with 4.88 gears it works my Jeep pretty hard on hills.
