Do your bumpers come with a painted/finished option? Black powder coat???

Also --- out of curiously, with most of the other bumpers at 1/4 steel why did you guys go 3/16?

I think most are using 3/16 actually I've researched so far and if you have read the first page of this thread. Might be should ask why if it's necessary to use 1/4 which would add more weight.

I don't really understand the obsession with the 10A bumper...I mean, I guess it looks nice and the ability to stub it is interesting, but, to me, it has one glaring oversight: it doesn't accept d-rings, which are kinda essential for safe recovery when off-roading. The red tow hooks are pretty much useless...

I wondered about that, as it's something I noticed on the Aries bumper, too. I started to look into "shackle vs. tow hook" threads here, but I got lazy.

I mean, the tow hooks aren't completely useless...I shouldn't have really said that, but general concensus is that d-rings are safer because a rope cannot slip off of them.

As long as the hooks can support the weight, does it really matter? Curious.

Of course the tow hooks can support the weight, that's not the issue. The issue is that they are not closed like a d-ring. Having a rope slip off during recovery can end badly for someone.

Dave, how did you mount your front license plate on there? I think right now they aren't required in TX (but only due to a mistake), but if it goes back to being required, I'll need to figure something out on mine.

Are you installing a winch?? I just drilled holes in the plate and used the fairlead holes. If you are installing a winch, they make plate holders that snap on to the rollers/fairlead.

I'm going to move mine down cuz it looks kinda silly up high like that.

No winch yet, still need other things first, haha.

Well you just need a couple of nuts and bolts, drill it, then slap it on.

Had it installed this morning with a matching rear and tire carrier.

Their fenders will be put on within the next few weeks.
How do you like that bumper. I think that is next on my mod list, along with the rear.

Does anyone have the Rough country Stubby for a JK with the stinger. I really like the look and was planning on getting one in the next week or so. Was going to pair it up with a Warn Zeon 10. Only had my jeep about 5 months now and this will be the first major mod I will be doing. Planning on a AEV 2.5 lift and flat fenders soon as well.

Like to Rough country website with bumper spec's, photos and a youtube video of install..

Anyone have any thoughts on running a JCR Dagger series stubby up front and their Crusader series with tire carrier in the rear? I like the look of the Dagger stubby, and I think both of the rear bumpers/carriers look good too. I'm thinking of the Crusader for the rear because I don't want to have to deal with cutting off the crossmember and losing the factory tow receiver as well. Price is the same for either so it's really just looks & function. Well, actually I guess technically the Dagger rear would be more expensive since I'd have to add on the JCR receiver to it, but it's a nominal cost.

I was thinking of doing this, too. I don't see a problem with it. I love my Dagger front stubby, but I definitely like the Crusader for the back better than the Dagger for exactly the reasons you mentioned plus one more: even with the receiver added to the Dagger, some poeple have run into problems with the hitch not actually fitting into it properly. Check out this thread: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/jcr...ar-224202.html

Seems like a hassle.

I did the mini lift by just swapping out to 19/60 springs about 2" front n 1" rear n I still have a slight rake but I like the stance. Also have 9000xl shocks! Post pics when do them mods!

Thanks guys, sounds like this is the route I'm going then. Planning on doing the rear with tire carrier when I do it.

Hanson Euro Spec full width front bumper with steel skid plate. According to Hanson, bumper weighs 95lbs, steel skid weighs 17lbs. No frame modification needed. Also, teraflex 1.5 in performance (coil) leveling kit.
