Like the looks. Holes dont line up good so it takes some extra time to install.

Well thanks to this thread and countless hours staring at various screens, I've decided to go Metalcloak. Some may remember that I had a specific set of criteria and Metalcloak meets them all. I didn't want to mix and match the front and rear bumpers so I had to like both. The fronts had to have stock sized holes for the fogs and also the winch had to sit in rather than on the bumper. Their frame built bumper does all this. I'm not too crazy about the tire carrier because I like the one motion open and close so a Teraflex will be going on as well. Also keeping with the design language I'm going to do Metalcloak flares. Still undecided about which ones (Overland or Overline) as that will depend on if the Exoskin for the rear can be mounted with the RSE step slider that I already have on. I know I went a little off topic but thanks very much for this thread to the OP.

You won't be disappointed. I put their dagger pre-runner on my lj and the craftsmanship is amazing and the fit couldn't have been more perfect. When the budget allows, the wifes jk is getting jcr's front and rear.

Looks fine to me, just don't like that winch guard or light bar thing? It's modular so probably there are other options.
Waiting to see more pictures and the weight of it.

anyone with the JCR front stubby stinger feel like answering a question?

edit: duh, you have to buy the separate front skid...

I guess it's like that will most of the brands....

Through a fluke, I just got a *second* front Smittybilt XRC for my 2012. The first one had some buff marks, can't even really call them scratches, but as part of the insurance company addressing the front end wobble that started after the accident -yes, I know, make sure all the front suspension arm and link bolts are re-torqued to 125 ft-lbs - the insurance company said it was simpler to replace it than to have it stripped and re-powder coated!

So in the next few days I'll be giving the original one a light top-shot of satin black and posting it up for sale. Come to think of it I also have the factory bumper too still sitting around. Guess it's time I got rid of that too, lol.

Anyway, that being said, I LOVE my XRC. Great looks, not overly heavy, made a great home for my lights and winch and crazy strong. Lots of good options out there these days though - tough to go wrong almost as long as you get a true recovery bumper as others have mentioned. Amazing array of good options out there!

You don't need a FB page to browse their page...
I'm not sure I like these bumpers though.

Rugged Ridge XHD winch bumper

I installed my XHD bumper the other day and wanted to share some of the details. The install is straightforward, but the instructions are lacking.(Vac pump relocation)
To make it easier to get the stock bumper off. You will need a swivel socket adapter and extension.

The other PITA. is the plastic screws. The fastest and best way I found to remove them, is to use a 90* pick. Just push hard at an angle in the inside of the screw, and yank! (watch the fingers though!!)

The vac pump must be relocated for 2012. Use a bi-metal blade and sawzall. The instructions give you the right cut measurement. (They are conservative on the cut)
P.S. the corrosion on the jeep is only 11 mounths worth!!

When i was done with the cutting. I cleaned all the metal with rust inhibitor and painted everything I could reach with bed liner.

The XHD bumper goes on easy, but the bolts are long. So it takes a minute or two.
Good bumper, good finish. (P. s. I would not buy this bumper if you are going to bash into rocks. ((too thin)). I paid $370.00 from amazon with free shipping. I will also get back some money with the rebate ($20.00)

I like the look, but now I need to put my 35's on and buy a wench.

Here's my Smittybilt XRC10 and XHD bumper with over rider hoop. I will say that I had to install the hoop backwards because it fell right above my winch plug. Lame. Also bought the stubby ends, however they were shipped wrong. Will install them later.

I can't say for sure, it probably depends a little on the d-ring or shackle but here's what I measured with my caliper.
Hole in bumper = .99"
My 3/4" shackle pin = .88"
My 1" shackle pin = 1.13"
Hope this helps
