thanks for the quick responses and the knowledge.
Research and reviews are all part of the forum. NFRs2000NYC's rig (the one you've posted pics of) has Smittybilt SRC Side Armor rails, which others consider "cheap", compared to Ace, LOD, etc. Smittybuilt manufactures almost exclusively in China, and they pass on the cheaper production cost.

You'd be surprised, the Rampage bumper may be made in the factory next door to Paramount. Unless they tout being "made in the US", they rarely are. Price isn't always an indication of quality.

If your looking for really solid quality I can not recommend JCR enough I got their full width and it's built like a tank, it admittedly is not the cheapest out there but it is very well built!

Looks boss, Hokie (prolly better on Crush than Dune )

JCR sells a mid midth and a full width, both look built like the proverbial brick s*** house.

They come unfinished, how did you finish yours?

Thanks! I bet it would look pretty sweet on Commando too! I finished mine with dupli-color spray on bedliner it feels pretty solid but we will see how the liner holds up

I wonder if you could add the F4's winch bumper modifier to that bumper.

Body Armor bumpers are in the $300 - $400 range depending on where you buy and if a sale is going on.

It's what I installed. Look back a couple of pages... http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/meg...ml#post3967951

I'm liking this more and more and the price point is great.

Did you get the additional front skid?

Someone just posted this pic in the 2014 JK waiting room. Does anyone know if this front bumper actually exists or is it just a concept?

No I cut my crashbar off so there's nothing to attach the skid to. I also didn't like the logo on their skid. I'm going to weld up a shorter crash bar where I cut the factory bar off and fab up another lightweight skid like I made for my factory bumper.

I really like it! Good job!

I'm not too wild about how they've put their name/logo on it either, but it will make washing mud out of it a little easier.

Any installation issues? I'm about to pull the trigger on it and want to know what I'm in for.

I commented earlier in the thread that depending on the year of your Jeep there were some changes in the crashbar area. On a 2012 model there are no holes where the instructions indicate and no easy way to get the nut-tabs inserted. Installation to the front frame horns was relatively straightforward but a few of the bolts "almost" reached and I had to use longer bolts pull it in enough to fit the supplied bolts. I think that is more a matter of variability in tolerance from Jeep on the bolt hole positions on the front frame horns and the angle of those front plates.

If you have a 2012 or later you will probably need a 1/2" drill bit for frame rail to insert the side bolts and if you don't want to cut off the crash bar to insert them then some finagling or hammering to get the nut-tabs positioned where they need to be for the side bolts because the space for them in the crash bar support area is thinner than the thickness of nut-tabs.

Earlier model years may mount up with no problem.

I didn't want to keep the ugly Jeep crashbar anyway so for me the extra steps during the install were no big deal.

I really like the look of the bumper and the price can't be beat. The Powdercoat finish is very nicely done and even though the box the bumper arrived in looked like it had been air dropped and a couple places on the bumper were exposed the paint was just roughed up but not worn through. I called BA before I ordered and they boasted that they have a two step paint process with a tough first stage epoxy coat. I believe them.

I called them back concerning my installation issues on my 2012 and they said they hadn't encountered that so YMMV.

We scored a new Rampage after a drunk guy hit us head on with his rented Maxima in a parking lot. Rampage did not look too sturdy (but we liked the looks and the price matched his insurance bid) but we hit a boulder and the thing didn't budge so I guess it's stronger than it looks!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I am curious. What heavy duty bumpers (both front and rear) out there on the market will allow me to reuse the OEM tow hooks, rear OEM towing hitch ,and original fog lights? I got a 13 JKU.

I believe all after market bumpers are nice thick steel so technically if there's a flat area, drill some holes for some screws and re mount the hooks

Look through the posts in this thread and you'll see a lot of different bumpers. Generally they come with d-rings or mounts for d-rings and many come with provision for the factory fogs. The factory front hooks aren't really something you want to use because the strap or shackle will come out during a recovery.

Looks like a smittybuilt XRC with the storage end caps and bull bar. Dunno if I've ever seen the stamp in the 2nd photo though

Rampage Recovery bumper - full width

Hey guys, this thread really helped me out quite a bit so my time to contribute. I decided to go with a full width Rampage Recovery bumper.

I paid $569 for it through Morris 4x4.

The bumper is solid and adds a full level of protection, re-uses the factory fogs, comes with a winch plate and all of the necessary hardware to make this a simple bolt on installation. For the record, I did NOT have to relocate the vacuum pump (or what ever that is) that sits right behind the stock bumper.

This is a solid bumper and when combined with a Smittybuilt XRC10, the total weight of it all only dropped my front end by 5/8 of an inch.

Here's a few pics -
