Anyone have experience with the Smittybuild XRC Modular bumper and how it holds up over time? Look's pretty sharp:

I've heard mixed reviews, some guys swear by rm others bash em. I say if you like it and it fits your budget then rock it out and make it yours. The ones I've seen 1st hand seem to be well made and hold up as good as anything else.

I paid $569 for it through Morris 4x4.

The bumper is solid and adds a full level of protection, re-uses the factory fogs, comes with a winch plate and all of the necessary hardware to make this a simple bolt on installation. For the record, I did NOT have to relocate the vacuum pump (or what ever that is) that sits right behind the stock bumper.

This is a solid bumper and when combined with a Smittybuilt XRC10, the total weight of it all only dropped my front end by 5/8 of an inch.

Here's a few pics -

That vacuum pump thing, I believe, is the brake assist... Which I love! Cuz I have a 6 speed manual. Regular hill stops and not having to catch yourself with the clutch is so nice... The brake assist literally holds for about 3-4 seconds.. Makes all the difference.

Thanks. I love it. Looks like they had a $30 price increase.
It's a Rampage Front Recovery Bumper with Stinger and Light Cut Outs, Textured Black 88510

I paid $1,074 for it and a Smittybilt XRC 10,000 lb Winch System SB-97210 so I don't really know how it all broke down. I think there was a small surcharge for the bumper because of size and a small surcharge for the winch because of weight. I don't have my receipt in front of me to break it down in detail.

I figured, a full width recovery bumper that utilizes factory fog lights with winch plate AND 10K winch for less than $1,100? YES PLEASE and I couldn't be happier.

Rampage all the way. I have front and rear. Bought the front one plain black and had it lineX'ed. Bought the back one crinkle finish, not fond of the finish, I'll be getting it lineX'ed also. Very heavy and mostly easy to install, rear was a breeze, front inner nuts were a pain in the a$$!!

KC's mounted and warn winch mounted on front. modified oem air dam. CB antenna, and safety flag mount on the rear bumper.

Very nice rig!!

Don't want to hijack the thread being a "MEGA front bumper" thread, but tell me more about the rear bumper. I've been looking at it for a while now. My main concern...the tire carrier. How easy was it to set up, adjust, install, etc. Considering the price point of the rear bumper, and knowing what you know now that you have it, would you buy it again?

Rear was super easy the install, the tire carrier gave no problems installing the only issue I had was tightening the carrier bolt and nuts that hold the tire. Used a pipe wrench and it lossened up, had to buy a mega box wrench to tighten them all. Thought about spot welding the nuts so they won't back off.

I sent an email to them saying that they are doing a lousy job at marketing their product, and that not all of us embrace Facebook. I asked to see actual pics of their units. We'll see what they say.

I never cared much for bumpers that mount the winch completely outside the bumper.

Rugged Ridge Modular Front bumper

If I ever get bored with the grill guard, i can regain 9 inches of garage and go with end caps and the bull bar. Taking it offroad this weekend. IPF driving lights ordered and will add to the top light mounts, it has mounts for 4.

Now that you have had the bumper for awhile, how is your paint holding up? You did a nice job with the texture - how exactly did you finish it? This is the only concern that keeps me from pulling the trigger on one of the JCR's.

Thanks.

My first post so please be gentle.

My Jeep: 2012 Wrangler. 2.5" Teraflex supension lift with 18" Crank wheels and 34.25" Nitto tires. Setting on the garage floor is a new Warn Zeon 10-S (rope line).

I'm pulling the trigger on a front and rear bumper with tire carrier this week. I've narrowed the front down to LOD mid and a ORF mid. I would buy the JCR front and rear but don't want to have to finish it myself.

My question is which one of these can I attach a front license plate too? Seems like all the manufacturer's forget about us that have to run them. Too bad.........

Search for a winch fairlead mount. This is the first one that came up, no idea how it compares to the others. Im sure there are some homemade options floating around the forum too. http://www.cooltechllc.com/jeep/jk_w..._bracket.shtml

Ended up ordering LoD full width front and back. Chris at LoD was great to deal with and will include a front license plate bracket for the bumper at no charge. They also have to build the front bumper special for the Warn Zeon. The standard front bumper will not work with this winch.

Olympic 4x4 Front Rock Bumper D-Ring Mounts?

I posted this question below on the 2014 JK thread and just remembered this Bumper thread. My apologies. I want to put a small plain jane bumper, front and rear, on my newly ordered Sahara. Nothing gaudy. The Olympic 4x4 Rock bumper is in consideration but i'm not impressed with their D-ring mounts. Will the D-Ring mounts from PureJeep, Off Camber or A-Z Fabrication fit on the Olympic bumper? These mounts appear better built. Thanks.

Jeep*::*LoD Offroad

Im on a current bumper search myself and am leaning very much toward these bad boys.. either the shorty or the mid. Made in US and Chris at the manufacture has a ton of insight on the bumpers. If not this, Id prob go XHD for the price and what you get in the bumper. I have factory fog lights that I want to keep using so that was a factor for me... something to keep in mind if you have them.
I am also more for true weld bullbars or stingers rather than the bolt on. For most practical purposes Im sure the bolt on's would be fine, however that ONE time that you hit something at just the right speed and just the right spot with the bolt ons and something happens.. then what. You wont have that concern with addons that are welded directly.

Fun things to think about. Happy hunting.
