Noob question: Do the different widths (stubby or full) have any major functionality difference? Or mainly for looks?
If you live in deer country get the largest heavy duty full width bumper you can afford.
They are not just for looks.

Well, have the RR XHD stubby with winch and hoop.

Hit a deer at 40mph and not a scratch. I really like my XHD. Still pulling deer fur out of the winch cable though

Just ordered mine today, but with the extensions. This is great to hear. I'm super excited to lose this stock bumper. Next up: soft top, then rear bumper and then hopefully a gobi stealth (unless ACE comes up with something better!)

I don't have to worry much about deer in southern CA.

Any other functional reasons for choosing one or the other? Or mostly just looks?

Thanks fireron. I'm looking forward to it. Note that it's probably about 30 lbs lighter than you might think--insofar as it includes a front skid as part of the one-piece design. with bumpers, like the AEV, Spyder, ect..., you have to add an extra-option bolt-on front skid, which adds to the weight that's not included in the "bumper" weight. So, I see it more as something like a 130lb bumper, and a 30lb or so skid.

Winch fit question

When considering which bumper/winch combo to buy, do you need to consider the size/shape of the winch? In other words, will all bumpers with a recessed area for a winch fit all/most winches?

GAWD, I love those JCR Bumpers. Been looking at them for a few weeks! Think I want the Stubby with Stinger...gonna leave it bare metal, too. Really hard to narrow it down. To me, they all look REALLY nice!
