Have you checked out the LOD one? Can get it with or without the hoop.

No, but I have now. Thanks. It's in the running for that 3rd spot. Every since the first MW3 Jeep pictures came out I've been a big fan of the AEV tubeless, and that got me excited about bumpers. I just haven't been a big fan of the price.

Also trying to decide whether I want a winch or not. That could make a huge difference. I like the way the AEV and others hide the winch. Probably will get one even though I don't wheel as much as I would like to.

I have an 08 Rubi and been looking at winch bumpers, been leaning towards ARB and Warn Elite, really like the looks of that Rockhard. I feel the need for full width protection for my daily driver (deer country, other drivers). I was wondering if the warn power plant fits these three bumpers?

The powerplant fits in the Rockhard, I know because that is the bumper on the top of my list. For now.

Noob question: Do the different widths (stubby or full) have any major functionality difference? Or mainly for looks?

Just wondering because I want to add a front bumper. I have 33's now, but will upgrade to 35's in the future. I want to make sure the bumper won't get in the way, etc.
Stubby gives you a better approach angle when, for example, rock crawling. It allows you to approach steeper angles cause you won't hit the rock with you bumper (since it's not there). That's why a lot of full widths have the end caps 'higher' then the rest of the bumper.

Now my noob question: what's the reason for the stinger?

JcrOffroad, Inc. JK Wrangler Front Stubby Dagger Pre-Runner Winch Bumper

I really like this bumper, but the link says "Product 'JK-F-DAG-PRE' is not available at this time." You can search once on the web page though. Any discount for WF members? And what's the lower skid weigh in at?

I apologize for being a newbie, thanks for the info on the rock hard and since I posted this was actually "reading" and found my answers that the ARB and the elite both accept the power plant winch, it will be off center in the ARB.

Will the Mopar hood lock work with the AEV Premium front bumper or is the bar too close to the grill to get the key into the lock?

Yeah, did that. No response now for more than a week. Not sure about ordering from someone that doesn't treat a potential customer in a timely fashion... what if I need warranty attention? I like 'em, but it makes me think twice about buying one.

I like how JCR fills these pages with their product, but won't respond to messages from potential buyers. Unfortunately, that makes me go somewhere else. I'll buy from a vendor that responds to messages.

I notice most of the bumpers listed are the stubby king. I'm a fan of full sized bumpers and am very happy with my Rampage.

What i dont like about most aftermarket JK bumpers is that they're so damn huge! they gotta weigh a ton!, thats one reason i like the stubby bumpers they really lighten up the front both aesthetically and physically. rough country has a really cool idea for a stubby bumper that is basically the sheet metal to mount and conceal a winch down in between the frame rails. and its relatively cheap too.

here is a video:

You might give them one more try(could be a tech glitch), I received a response within 24hrs and then since I live close to their shop(1.5 hr drive) I made a visit. Brian was very helpful and enthusiastic about their product and Jeeps. He showed me around the shop,I saw the bumpers being built(cool) I like their product and ordered a front and rear bumper.

Rugby - Is that the stock skid plate or the AEV skid plate?

I want a stubby because I'm going with flat fenders in the near future and the full width doesn't look right with the flat fenders. If I was keeping stock fenders, there are some nice ones that flow right up in the fenders and look great!
