Sorry for the confusion guys. To avoid future frustrations of others, maybe get that email into your profile on here. I've sent you PM's on here because I didn't know about the above email.

Thanks for responding!

So many of these put the winch too hi for my liken. I want to leave the radiator unobstructed & not mess with my angle of aproach to much, thus going to build my own bumpers. Deffinately wont be as purdy.

I don't have a PM from you here. PM's work fine, as long as we get them!

I can't decide which one out of these 2 they are both from JCR on 1 the winch is half sunk and the other it is full sunk, I do like the fog light closer like the factory bumper though but what are you thoughts?

Half Sunk Winch

Full Sunk Winch

I noticed many of the full width varieties are airbag approved while none of the stubbys have that designation. I know nothing about airbag systems, are airbags basically disabled with a stubby bumper and if so what impact does this have on being street legal in California?

Airbags are accelerometer activated. All aftermarket bumpers are airbag friendly. This thread explains it a bit:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/air...rs-143447.html

I believe disabling an airbag would be illegal in North America as a whole.

Michael - Most of these bumpers are made of heavy gauge STEEL. Again, that's STEEL. Steel.

They are far sturdier than any other body panel on the jeep itself. Hitting them with a baseball bat would have NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER, other than to really hurt your hands. Most of them are "recovery bumpers"--that is, they're strong enough to tie a strap to and haul the jeep out of the mud by. I would wager most are literally "bullet proof," at least with respect to the average handgun.

In low speed "collisions" (including the type of "love taps" that sometimes happen parallel parking), they will damage the other vehicle without suffering any damage themselves. Other vehicles are going to have plastic bumpers like your stock bumper. They will crumple like a box of tissue paper under a brick when pushed by a bumper like most of the ones in this thread.

At most, you may scratch the paint on the bumper surface, but a spritz of rustoleum spray on bedliner or black exterior spray paint would fix it.

What about the high brake light. Isn't that necessary as per code.

Half Sunk Winch

Full Sunk Winch
I went with the full sunk and really like it. I installed a Warn HD Powerplant winch and it keeps the winch low out of the airflow.

Bestop -- Highrock High Access front bumper with the optional grille guard..

My only dislike is that the finish is too glossy. I would prefer more of a satin finish . Otherwise everything else it fine

If you are having parallel parking issues, you probably do not want the stubby bumper. Your fenders may not appreciate it unless you have bushwackers or an equivalent

Just a thought
