I currently own a TJ and am looking to get a second Jeep, that will most likely be a JK. So I've started looking into parts for JKs.

I am a little shocked at how few bumpers there are for the JK that I find visually pleasing. The stubbys look fine but don't give me my desired width/protection. Most of the full width bumpers raise up on the sides in an attempt to meet the fender flares. First off, I don't like that look at all. Second, I don't like the stock flares. Third, I'll be replacing the flares, so these full width bumpers will raise up to meet nothing.

The couple bumpers that I do or might like the bumpers are the old (TJ) style simple/straight Warn bumper (not the 'elite series') and possibly the MetalCloak BYOB/modular with the bumper extensions (to 60"). Either option is going to put me close to a grand for the front bumper with winch capabilities and guard/stinger. It's a little funny that the same setup for my TJ only cost around $500.

I'll be going with the MetalCloak flares, so I may just cloak it out. I just wonder how sturdy the modular/BYOB bumpers are compared to the full length solid steel Warn bumpers. I was rearended in my TJ with the full length solid steel Warn bumper, with ~ a 30mph collision, and there was barely a scratch, let alone a dent/bend. I figure a modular/BYOB bumper would be creased at the attachment points.

Just my opinion, but I am a little disapointed at the selection. At least there are a couple styles that I like.

Just saw this thread and this is the bumper I have been eyeing for a while now. I love the grill look to it.

Now that I see it, where the heck would I put my front license plate? Totally torn now.

This is a nice bumper and you can find a good price on them. I'm still so on the fence about what bumper to get... but this one is definately a contender. Thanks for sharing!

If your sled is a DD and your state requires a front license plate, think about where it is going to be located. A lot of these bumpers don't leave space for a plate. I went with the JCR mid/width.

Maybe I missed it, but I haven't seen anything in this thread about the Mopar Front Off-Road bumpers? Right now, I'm thinking of adding the Mopar Front Bumper with winch mount and fog lamp holes.

Any pics, info, or thoughts?

Pretty sure they are just rebranded AEV bumpers?

How do you like your LOD skid plate?

I did a lot of research on bumpers for my 2012 JK and like the LOD full width, but I really haven't found that many good photos of the skid plate itself.

It's good, I like it. I'm also using it to mount my front license plate.

I'm reading this front bumper thread at the right time. It's election time and I see a huge amount of signs all over that need to be run over. Choose a bumper that will protect your jeep and run over these dumbazz signs.

For me this thread was the most informational of any I have ever read here. Every one gave their choice and pictures to help us all out. Not saying one was better than another one. This is how I made my choice. It would be great if we could have some other mega topics on lifts and tires and not compare them just state what you have with pictures.

I have a picture request for JCR bumper's. I'd like to see what the 1) Crusader Stubby w/ short stinger and 2) Crusader Pre-runner Mid-width look like powder coated and installed.

JCR's website only shows these unfinished.

Thanks.

Here is my LOD full width with the optional skid plate. I ordered mine with the Roadmaster tow brackets so I can pull it behind a motorhome. They are no extra cost.

$ 778.00 JK Ft Bumper with Guard
79.00 Skid Plate
29.00 2012 Vacuum Bracket
120.00 Shipping

$ 886.00 Total + $120.00 Shipping - no tax

I called the factory and ordered direct at list price without shopping around for a price because I wanted the free brackets asap for a trip. I think I could have done better on this price but didn't work anyone.

My evaluation is in this thread:

Great info here. Does anyone have problems with overheating with a winch mounted on top of their bumper instead of sunk down into the bumper? Im gonna be looking for a mid or stubby, need to be able to clear my 37s while flexed. I chopped down the stock bumper but the tire will still contact it when stuffed. Maybe if the bumper was straight across instead of angled back slightly?? Lots of nice bumpers here!"

They are all hot, but this is my favorite :

Full Width

AEV Premium
• Construction: 3/16” steel substructure, 1/8” steel outer shell, 3” tube, polyethylene (crush can covers), Stamped perforated stainless steel
• Weight: 116lbs
• Finish: Textured black powder coat
• Frame Modification: Air Pump relocation and bracket cutting
• Airbag Approved
• Price: $1199

It is the Call Of Duty type stock one, right? Let me know if I'm wrong...

Has anyone ordered from Aries? It looks like their website is just a PDF of a catalog and I've tried calling and emailing the Texas stores and haven't gotten a response.

I did order the Brush Guard from them photo link below:

http://www.ariesautomotive.com/appli...hotos/1050.jpg

They told me on the phone it had to be shipped by a local carrier and could not be UPS, because of past damage to the products. I was told they could not leave it unless I signed off on it saying that it was not damaged.

Guess what? UPS dropped it off without my signiture. It is in perfect condition, but I haven't installed it yet. As a matter of fact I'm looking at some different options.

List price is $399.00, and since you live here in Texas I'll let you have it for $349.00. If you live close to DFW I'll drop it off for free.

What do you think?

Cool thread. I hadn't seen it before. One stop shopping,!!!

I like the mid bumpers with a simple single hoop. Specifically the Hanson, LOD and Metal Cloak. First mod on a JK I would do is replace the ugly front fenders, so mids look good with flatties.

I also really like the LOD mid bumper with the single hoop/bar. AEV is another one that catches my eye. I need a bumper that has room for a license plate, the wonderful Jersey laws...

I ordered an Or Fab full width front bumper. Debated quite hard between the OR Fab and Rampage Recovery. Will post pics once it's on.

Also ordered the Rampage recovery rear bumper.
