Question Does anyone know ...

Does anyone know ...

If it's really ok to use the attach points on any of these bumpers for flat towing a JK Jeep.

The Warn bumper manual says not to, but the others seem silent on the point. The currie tow bar suggests towing at 40 mph or less, and that's not happening behind a 500 HP Wander Lodge.

The base plate approach seems to require modifying the frame which I'm not on for on a brand new vehicle. Also not sure if many of the baseplates are going to interfere with a new bumper. And then there is the cost of a new bumper AND base plates.

I really like some of these bumpers and would rather weld up some adapters for our demco hitch, but am wondering about bumpers re airbag sensors, etc. I'm not really sure where the air bag sensors even are.. I always thought they were a part of the bumper, but based on the install documents I see no mention of sensor wires, so wondering if they are somewhere else unrelated.

Res1971, thank you! Google translate didn't do anything for me. AND how impressive is it that one knows a tonal language completely different than that of his native own?! NICE and thanks!

Stamped metal? NICE! Glad to see it uses the stock fogs also. The shipment and freight price is intimidating though.

I got mine back in July...
1) JK Frame-Built Steel Base $309.00
2) Winch Guard, JK $129.00
3) 60" Light Caps, JK $249.00
4) Winch Hook D-Ring Hoop Mount $19.00

Total $706.00 (from the web site cart)

They also have "Prebuilt" (not put together just a kit) Frame-Built Bumpers #1441, for the JK Wrangler cost only $644

Also, Matson "Matsonian" at Metalcloak is a great guy to deal with.

OR Fab full width

Newly installed OR-Fab full width front bumper (in bicycle black finish - basically a semi-gloss finish). Planning on adding PIAA lights on bar, ORF winch plate and eventually a winch.

Check out post 168.

Chris (owner) at LoD Fabrication is very popular with RV folks that flat tow Jeeps. My mid width with Blue Ox tow brackets will be here next week. Chris in one great guy to work with and their products are top shelf. Call them, you will be impressed.

Can't wait to get it installed but I guess I will have to since it's on backorder....

All this in one place? I tk.hink it's awesome and I hope it grows. This is a great asset to help us newbs see a lot of options in one place. We can do more detailed research from here.

Low weight options

LOD Armor Light
$499 mid or stubby for the base
$80 skid
$120ish for a guard or stinger
$50 winch plate
STUBBY (left) Mid (on right)

*It doesn't require moving the brake pump canister on 2012+ like a bunch of bumpers
*They ship painted ( powdercoated for +$60)
*constructed from high strength 1/8" steel.
*Everything bolts on
*works with factory fog lights
*Lighter than stock bumper
*No matching rear bumper yet

PieFace made a really good video, and post, showing how adding weight will droop the suspension. It also got me thinking about how weight effects tire wear, driving feel, and the possible need to get a leveling kit with a heavy bumper.

The Aries takes my vote looks pretty mean, although the AEV looks mighty clean with the winch tucked inside the bumper.

Just installed my Rough Country stubby with light bar, D-ring kit and RC 9500 winch, couldn't be happier, especially with the price!

I'm lovin' my Expedition One "Core Series" front bumper! I just installed a Superwinch Talon 9.5i as well; here's the result so far (still need D rings and a license plate mount for the fairlead):

Believe the E1 bumper "only" weighs about 65 lbs, but I went the cheap route and got the Superwinch with steel cable, so add another 90 lbs or so for that one!

Just installed the Shrockworks front Mid-width with winch hoop (still deciding on a winch), and winch-delete plate. Built in Dually D2's into the front bumper for a "slight" bump in light. Rear bumper without tire carrier, because I'm going to add the Teraflex Hinge Carrier.

I agree. Love this thread.

A front bumper is one of my next mods. I check this thread every time new pics are posted and have changed my mind a few times so far because of it.

REALLY like the LOD Armor lite posted by Rooster.
