Don't feel bad. It looks good now that you are finished. When I cut mine, I ended up with a bad angle and bent blade. So I busted out the hack saw and cut myself a guide line, put in a new blade on the sawzall, and corrected my angle. When it was finished it came out just fine.

That is hilarious. I get those looks all the time from my neighbors when I have power tools in hand. Great job! It looks awesome.

It looks fine!
No worries!

Just did mine last weekend!

Oh, and the neighbors will get used to it. Mine already know to ask "what I'm doing this time" on "those" saturdays.

I bought my stubby kit from RC and they include and have on their site the instructions. If you measure and tape off as they say, I don't see how anyone can go wrong following the tape line. I didn't have a sawzall or recip saw so I used my regular round power saw with a metal-cutting blade. Problem was that I couldn't make the cut alll the way up top so I switched to a jigsaw with a metal blade. I was still short, LOL and had to saw the last 1\2" with a hacksaw. In any case, I got it done, despite the flyin' sparks!

Looking at doing this too, but I have a question:

Has any one just cut the bumper all the way up to the "knuckle" in the front bumper and not cap it?

Thanks

Before you consider that, take off the plastic bumper cover. It looks like an old Tj bumper. Try the naked look before you butcher the plastic too much.

Yup--member Pluke the 2 among others has his that way. Pluke's posted pics and I'm sure could direct you to some if you PM him. I prefer the stubby capped look myself, but you wouldn't be totally alone in just chopping it altogether.

Okay great. Do you have a link to that thread? I did a search but came up with mostly stubby caps and total bumper swap outs. Thanks for the info.

I don't. But Pluke's posted pics quite a few times. You can use the community directory to find him and then call up all his old posts, or just and him a PM and ask. His jeeps are pretty built up in addition to the stubby though, so it's not exactly a stock look if you know what I'm saying.
