mid or shorty front bumper?

I am considering buying the LOD Armor Lite front bumper w/ bulbar and skid plate for my 2013 Sahara JKU. I will add a winch at some point down the road. what do you guys think pros and cons on bumper size?

Shorty gives you less coverage so if you hit something at the corners it could be bad both for your Jeep and for the item/living thing that gets hit and possibly pulled under the tire. The plastic ends of the stock bumper are VERY sturdy and can push most everyday hits away from the tire and fender. A shorty takes this away.

To be honest, a mid-width isn't much better...

There could also be insurance concerns. If you hit something and you have a smart insurance adjuster, they may say that some of the damage would not have occurred with a full width or stock bumper. They'd be right, and you may be out some money.

So with all that being said, I hate the idea of extra weight so I went with a stubby. Nice and small. for the LOD armor lite, there is something about the mid-width that doesn't look right so I say you should go for the stubby.

I guess mid-widths just don't line up right. Too long for the grill and too short for the fenders.

Anyways, have fun!

Ive got the LOD mid width and really liked the look with the stock flares. Its been a solid bumper and taken some abuse without any issues. That said, I just switched to the PSC crusher flares and dont like the look as well. Im also concerned that im going to have to either trim the bumper or switch to the shorty to clear 37's. Something to keep in mind depending on how big you plan on going down the road.

To be totally honest i use to love the stubby, until I got into an accident. First thing to take the hit is the front tire which will immediately take out your control arms and brackets as well possibly bending the diff housing. Not mention front fender in and outer as well.
If you are worried about hitting wildlife go with a stout full width. I have the AEV Premium.
