Might as well introduce my new Jeep

Well I was a lurker and posted a few times before I picked up my Jeep, but it's been mine for 5 weeks now so I thought it was time to introduce it to the forum. It's been awesome so far!! Doors and top didn't touch for about the first 3 weeks of its "new life" with me because we had some great weather. It's back together now because I'm back up at college for the year so it only gets the occasional freedom panels and maybe front doors off treatment, but its still a ton of fun.

Enjoy, BTW, our family farm has had a 1947 Willy's CJ-2a since they bought it new so I need to get it out of the barn and get some pics with it. Didn't have time to get it out and clean it up though. We'll just say it's a work in progress. We also have a YJ we use to run out to the melon shed, but this one's not the farm's; it's mine, and I'm now officially a Jeeper. Also don't razz me for the Mountain "sticker" package. I really think the grille, black accessories, wheels, seats, tires, and yes even dark bumper appliques make it look really aggressive. I don't care what you guys think anyway cuz it's MINE!!

Had to throw in one with our firetruck just for fun.

Also, Rescue Green is the greatest color EVER!!

Daggo anytime you're in Southern Indiana feel free to swing by and you can take 'er for a joy ride! The truck runs as good as it looks too. Love classic trucks like that.

Jake, I was the same way about the sticker initially, but it really grew on me the more I looked at it, and now I kind of (gasp!) like it. I don't know why; I guess it just makes it different. As far as pricing and how its outfitted...
It's got Sirius, 6-disc, 7-speaker, hard top, power group, mountain package, LSD, NO tow package on sticker. It stickered around 31k, but I got 2500 off plus a tow package (hitch, etc) included. It seems pricing varies across the country, but around here prices seem to stay pretty high, even with the 2011's coming in. I did pretty well for around here. Also it's worth it to me.

Mt. Vernon? Huge, um yeah! Never heard of Oaktown, but I'll definitely notice it now on our way to Muncie to visit our son.... Where you going to school?

Thanks again everyone for all if the comments.

IG, don't blink too many times or ya might miss it. Haha. The actual town is right off the highway on your left about 15 miles north of Vincennes across from the Casey's, but we live a few miles south of town.

I'm up at Purdue right now studying occupational health with plans on applying to dental school. Boiler Up!!!

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but for those of you that were interested with the Willy's, I wanted to show you a couple more pics that my dad ran across last night while going through my grandmas albums. This was our old beat up Willy's in it's glory days! I hope, when I have the money, I'll be able to restore it. In the mean time, it's not going anywhere!!

Here's my Great Grandpa driving pulling a float in a local parade.

This is my dad (passenger-side) and my uncle (driver-side) sitting in the Jeep before heading out to the river for a Sunday afternoon of boating.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Love family history especially when part of it is still alive!

Good looking mountain edition jeep. Haven't seen one in person yet. Looks similar to a Rubicon imo.

Kool,
Nice pictures. I actually have the same exact Jeep, purchased mid-October. My sons been nudging me to pull the doos off. Haven't just yet!

Had the choice of the black or green. When I bought mine, a family was in the process of buying theirs. We had both side by side. Father of the black mountain kept eyeballin my green. My son and I agreed that black was a bit much to keep clean (I have a black Mustang). Besides, the jeep will eventually become his. He's 15. Wants the MUstang, but ain't gonna happen. Like handing him a loaded gun. He'll be much safer in the Jeep. Another reason why I bought it.

Wife didn't care for the color initially, but its grown on her. I never thought twice about the color after i bought mine. I love it! She's been driving it since I bought it and I inherited her 07 Mustang GT. Not a bad trade. I actually traded in my 07 Pontiac Solstice for this jeep (hence my forum name). I miss my 2 seat speed buggy.

Next week I return home from out of state to trade back to the Jeep. I work out of state, TN but Florida is home. I have 4 more months in TN-so i need my Jeep to tear up the TN countryside---yeee haww!

BTW-All this sticker nonsense is silliness. I love the sticker and EVERYTHING about our jeeps...Good luck

Like the Mountain - LOVE the Willys! Great photos of the parade, too. Somewhere I have a pic of the 67 CJ I bought from my operations chief when I was in the Navy. I loved that CJ... Have only seen a few Willys in my lifetime and have always wanted one, but never pulled the trigger on one since I know they need space and more attention and experience than I can give them. Good luck on the restore - Would love to see some pics of that project!

Nice thread resurection!! Haha. Kjeeper, it's good to hear I'm not the only weirdo. Haha.

Thanks for the compliments. Haven't gotten to work on the Willys for awhile since I'm still in college and it's at home, but hopefully someday, it'll look like it did back in '47. Gotta love the old flatties!
