Military Discount

Part of the Military Discount is an oil change contract. When I asked the dealer about that they stated that comes from Chrysler, and not thru them. I was just wondering if anyone can confirm that, or did they just blow me off? (Did get the $500 discount from them).

Thanks
B.C.

I didn't get any discount since apparently you needed like two decades of service.
I served in forward infantry for 6 years in 3 major conflicts, but I guess that didn't qualify as military service.

I'm confused, what difference would it make whether an oil change contract came from Chrysler or the dealer? Assuming you're dealing with a Chrysler dealership and you're eligible for it, wouldn't you get it either way?

Ya, that is why I am confused, too. Right now I have nothing to show that I get the oil changes. Guess I will give Chrysler more time to send me something. I hope the person who sends that stuff didn't get laid-off!

I guess at one time Jeep would have accepted a 214, but then changed the policy. 11B, heh. Someone had to do it. I did 3 years as 12B, but I was young and foolish back then.

Thanks Whitebomber, but this part:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:...
A lube, oil and filter service contract (OC36N) is also provided for all eligible consumers.

There is my question, the dealer said the contract would show up in the mail. and I left there with just their word for it. Should the dealer have given me paper work for this???

As for their initial comment about "it comes from Chrysler not us", I would think they were just talking about the program, the discounts and any paperwork you might receive. Since they did give you the additional $500 off, I would guess they filled out the paperwork to get the $500 back from Chrysler and that might also have enrolled you in the oil change program.

It's pretty sketchy but I'd probably print this page:

Military

Then go into the dealer and ask how I go about getting my free oil changes and will I get something in the mail. If they give you that blank stare I'd go over to the service desk and see what they require as proof.

WhiteBomber, thanks for the reply. If I see nothing in the mail by the time the oil change is due I will do what you said, take a printed copy of the program and the paper work on the purchase. I am probably getting concerned over nothing.

Yeah, but that still doesn't make me any happier about not getting my discount. :P
LOL

Bummer, the discount seems to apply only to current or retired service members. Apparently it's no go for honorably discharged vets. Go figger........

But for the record, you have my thanks for your service. Yeah, I know, that and $4 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Thanks for the support.
I appreciate it not for myself, but on behalf of all of the unheralded heroes still fighting the good fight. Let their dedication, sacrifice, service and courage remain in your thoughts, not just only on patriotic holidays or during political elections, but all of the time.

I am quite not sure I understand why Chrysler decided to not cover honorably discharged veterans, but I guess there was a reason.....

The salvage Navy taught us a similar philosophy.

"There is no problem so large, complex, or pervasive that it can not be readily solved by the proper application of a sufficiently large quantity of high explosives."
