I don't know about TX, but it is in a lot of states. However, it's pretty easy to rig up some old Harley mirrors on the hinges. Or buy some cheap aftermarket mirrors and relocation brackets.

Plenty of other options, as well.

Behold:

Doors off, mirror ideas? Photos?

I've already checked, and in TX you need 1 rear facing mirror, this can be any mirror that you can see behind you. So if you take off your side mirrors, and leave your center one you are ok.

Only need one rear facing. Yehawww! All kidding aside, you only need one legally in TX. But if you are like me....navigating Houston traffic without doors, roof AND mirrors is very much rollercoaster like.

Keep your head on a swivel.

Get some Die-Tech brackets... They are really great... You get OEM mirror position, no vibration, and they look like they actually belong there... Check them out:

PS
Here is the official transportation code here in Texas:

Sec. 547.602. MIRRORS REQUIRED. A motor vehicle, including a motor vehicle used to tow another vehicle, shall be equipped with a mirror located to reflect to the operator a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet from the rear of the vehicle.

Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 165, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1995.
