Missing Headrests

Hey all,

I just got my new to me Wrangler 2 days ago, but we found out that the rear headrests are missing and that the dealer didn't have them. I know most people take them off to allow for a better view, and mine would remain off most of the time, but my wife is concerned about the safety of passengers in the back seat, so I would like to get a pair to replace them.

I've searched Google and the forums for a place to get them and have come up empty so far. The junkyards around here are also severely lacking in JKs as well, so that's out as well, unless someone knows of another vehicle that has headrests that are compatible.

Any ideas on where I can get a couple of them?

Thanks!

You can try eBay. They might have some. Also you might be able to order new ones from your jeep dealer but that might be expensive

If if is new - take back to dealer under safety significant parts missing. It's not the Lemon Law and I forget the statute but that will be on them to remove from another vehicle and it sit there until they get parts. This sounds a little like mt soft top parts issue that I have been dealing with six months. Just my thoughts.

If you're ever visiting in Arizona, stop by and I will give you the rear head rests out of my 2007 Sahara. They are taking up space in the garage. When in the Jeep, they really block out a lot of rearward vision.

BTW, you can also have the entire rear seat which is stored in my garage, as well. Only sub-teens or small animals could access the back seat space anyway.

Wow, that was a duh moment, I didn't even think of ebay, thanks for the idea.

Unfortunately, it's used and the PO didn't provide them to the dealer, so I get screwed (it's only got one key too grrr...).

I just placed a bid on ebay, so if that falls through, I'll keep you in mind if I ever get down that way, Dean.

Did you check in the small storage compartment in the rear ? That's where i keep mine when not in use. Ask the dealer to contact the PO if possible for you.

As long as you are buying them...consider buying headrests from a jeep Cherokee and replacing the fronts, then put yours in the rear. The Cherokee are much nicer.

@deepbluerubi: Yeah, I did check the storage area, and unfortunately they weren't there.

@JPWheelin: I didn't know other models would be compatible with them; thanks for the tip!

@repauli1: I'd like to, but living in an apartment and just getting started with Jeepin' I have rather limited fabrication tools and supplies, so if I end up going that route, I may need to get rather creative.

my gf wanted a wrangler so we went shopping for one and had a similar situation. I mentioned the rear head rest was missing and the sales guy stated most people take them out. I understood that but she has two children 12 & 16, so there is usually at least one minion in the rear. the dealership wasn't willing to get new ones for her so we walked away. two days later they called and stated they had indeed ordered a set and if we wanted the wrangler we could still work a deal. Needless to say we got the wrangler but only after I made them discount it further for making us make a second trip. Now we are a two Wrangler household
