I change mine every 3k with Castrol 5-20 and either a Fram Toughguard or a Mopar filter, whichever is available.

I use Mopar from Walmart.. they aren't overly expensive and they are OEM, so you can't go wrong.

I just did a change and tried out a Puralator Gold.. but it was an oil change special with Castrol High Mileage at Advance AP.. after this I'll go back to the Mopar.

I use Mobil 1 syn and Mopar filters and change ever 3-4000. Oil changes are cheap, at least compared to the 16 qts. required in my diesel truck.

I wish the Walmart by me carried Mopar. They barely carry any filter that fits the JK by me.

You can use the cheapest oil you can get and change it every 3K miles and you'll probably neversee any difference, in wear, but

We all like to be "with it"-so

I've used Mobile 1 for years in Corvettes/trucks/jeeps and I always use K & N "gold" oil filters, cause they have a 1" hex fitting on the end--make for easy removal--always

Ya lays yer money, ya takes yer chances !!

I go with an OEM Mopar filter and Mobil 1. So ten years down the line, when I finally pop my engine, the warranty guys have nothing to bitch about Mark W.

Yeah, it's the only saving grace Walmart has with me.. otherwise.. I don't really shop there. I despise that place. But you can't beat their prices on oil, and they have the Mopar filters.

Best part is.. my wife's '05 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi uses the same Mopar filter as my '00 TJ 4.0.

NAPA Gold or CARQUEST premium.
Both are Premium Wix Filters in diguise.

I've used Mobile synthetic in every truck, jeep and motorcycle i've owned. I use it in my fiance's 2010 Honda Element. I've experimented with other synthetic oils for the bikes (Amsoil, & Motul). If I could find it readily available, I'd go with Amsoil in my 4 wheel vehicles too.

x2 on the Wix filters that are branded NAPA gold. They are a great filter. I will never put a Fram in my Jeep or anything for that matter as they are as cheaply made as they come. I also like Purolator filters or Mobile 1 filters when they are on sale.

x2 on using whatever oil as long as you change it every 3000 miles. Oil breaks down from heat and from contamination. Guess which one happens first, yes contamination. You always hear that you can go 15,000 with synthetic oil and they are right the synthetic oil will not break down like the dino oil, but it is the contamination of that oil that is the larger problem. Contamination of both particles in the oil which the filter will help eliminate, but the oil will also turn acidic. Not good for anything metal and there is a lot of metal in engines. I run synthetic in my classics, but they take forever to get to 3000 miles. Synthetic in a daily driver just is not worth the extra money to me.

I run mobil 1 in the mustang and did in the jeep. Now run Valvoline in the jeep.

What I do is send my oil in for testing and they tell me how well the oil is holding up and what is in it. Costs around 40 dollars, I did 3 separate tests in the mustang bumping the oil up higher in mileage. I finally stopped at 10k on the mobil 1 filter and mobil 1 20w-40 sythen. I still had 40 percent oil life left but didn't want to push it lol. You can go safely 5-7k on sythen without worrying about it at all. If you don't trust it, send your oil out to get analyzed that way you know for sure.

I run Amsoil synthetic oil and filters in almost everything I own. I am extremely fussy and keep my vehicles for a very long time(my daily driver is a 94 Cherokee that I bought new). I am more interested in using whatever is best, with cost being a secondary concern.

I'm a Mobil fanboy and ran Mobil5000 in my vehicles. With my JK, I run Mobil1 full synthetic w/the Mobil1 filter. I change between 5,000 and 10,000 miles.
