Monster Build....FrankenBetty....ITS ALIVE!!!

A lot of you know my truck. Black Betty. You know we crammed a supercharger under the hood and took her out to moab thinking people would be impressed. They weren't, well, not enough. My standard flares and 34 inch duratracs are killers in NJ, It was not imposing at all in Utah.

Everything out there was coiled over on 37s. So naturally, I thought I was close to finished with her, but alas, It turns out im just getting started. Here's how she looks now....stripped for summer.

So...you did ALL that just to impress people in Moab?

Crazy.

Yeah I'm confused about why you seem to care so much about what everyone else thinks of your Jeep.

Looks great. Really like the tube doors. I think 2drs can get by with 35's making them look like monsters but 4dr's need a little more. Not that 35's can't look great but if your looking for the monster look then 37's for the JKU.

Of course we all do our Jeeps to impress to a point. Not sure why we would say differently. If we were actually doing mods for offroading, we would be stripping weight and getting rid of as much as possible, not adding more weight. We add to make it look better with some function too. We want our Jeep to stand out in the crowd and to say otherwise is just kidding ourselves. If it was all about function, then they would all look alike with the most convenient offroad mods.

Setting the stage......

So here's what we've done so far.

Xpel Ultimate wrap. - An absolute must if you buy new.
RK 2.5 x-factor lift - super twisty. with RK's arms, you dont need to go any higher. Im going to try to keep a lot of this lift intact when I change the springs and shocks. the uppers, lowers, trackbars, should all stay.
Tire wheel combo - Ultra wheel crushers, wrapped in 34'' Duratracs.
Winch - Engo e9000 with synthetic line. Love this thing. It takes a beating and I feel safe alone off road with it. (although you should never wheel alone)
Front Bumper - JCR Crusader Mid width in front. with JCR Skid. If i had to buy another bumper, it would be a JCR. The quality is unmatched and they are styled so cool. I feel like i could drive thru a brick wall with this battering ram on the nose. And its light.
Nemesis Billy Rockers - Coolest rock rail design. Yes I said it and I'll stand by it. I'd stack them against anything in the market.
Engo Lights - windshield, bumper, hood. Saved us in moab when we got lost on a trail and it got dark quick. I mean DARK.
Wet O'kole Seat covers - Id install them again if i had a new truck. Super tight and totally waterproof.
Viair Compressor - Also a must. Saved me a few times. I once filled an air mattress while camping because i bought an air mattress that didnt come with a pump by mistake.
SPOD - you know what it is. If your adding aux lights or anything that requires a switch, this is the only game in town. adds to resale.
RIPP SUPERCHARGER - Truck puts down 340 at the rear wheels. Pentastar loves the extra air.
Drake hood latches - Look cool and the the hood dosent bounce at all now.
Safari straps - Great summer look.
Rancho Doors - Great summer look.
SpiderWebShade - Great summer look.
Riddler Diff Covers - Bashed them a bunch of times in moab. The rocks were damaged, the diff cover was not.
Artec Axle Armor Kit - Truss gusset this gives me the confidence to go to 37s.

I hope I didnt forget anything.

Meh. I do what I like, and don't care too much about what you like. It's not all about function at all, but for me impressing other people just seems like a silly goal. Why should anyone be impressed that you spent a bunch of money on accessories and modifications and bolted them to your vehicle? Why is that impressive? Lol

Honestly if you want to impress people who are into wheeling you are going to have to do a LOT to it. Tons with 42's isn't even that impressive any more unless you have a fire breathing V8 with an Advanced Adapter Atlas 4 speed, coilovers, hydro stops, full hydro steering, yadda, yadda, yadda. Now if you only want to impress people who are not into wheeling or not exposed to built up rigs then I guess it would be very easy to do.

Personally I build my stuff for me, not try to impress people with how its built. Don't get me wrong I will show off on the trail in a heartbeat, I really get a kick out of doing stuff that folks with rigs built way better then mine won't even attempt. To me that is how you impress someone.

Reading the title of the thread I was hoping someone was doing another build worth subing to..............

You guys are misunderstanding. I thought it would stand out. I dont care to impress people, I know my truck is cool. The point is, that we rolled out there and learned that coilovers and 37s were the norm.

On the RK trail ride, we had the smallest tires by about 3 inches.

Here's what we're going to do.....

Betty is going back to RK. We are going to try to do a front and rear coilover set up. The point of the thread is that Im looking for opinions about spring rates and how to go about this.

Parts getting added -

RK Coilovers
Nemesis Flares
BFG KM2 37s

Im thinking that the synergy rear coilover kit is the way to go in the rear.

Hey man, bottom line it's your rig. You can do it to impress Buddha for all I care. Your initial post just seemed oddly emphatic on the impressions of others.

As others said, I build my rig for me, but also with an eye to appearance.

You have a nice Jeep....looking forward to dropping a RIPP into mine some day!

The number one rule of Jeep club is that someone will always have a Jeep badder than yours. But damn yours is one nice rig. Keep the updates coming.

I'd check on Pirate or some of the more hard core wheeling sites for write ups on JK rear coil-overs. Not even many posts here about them. I've only seen custom work on buggied out rides in person myself.

I would live to see the reactions on Pirate to the OP.

With regard to RIPP S/C, you will not regret that mod. That thing puts a smile on my face every time I turn the key.

Running the RK 5.5 with fox 2.0s. It took a while to settle with this spring setup. I have swaped springs around 3 times getting it to behave how I want it. Honesty you wouldn't believe me if I told you how well it rides, reacts. Coilovers are something you can just buy setup from someone and bolt on and be happy with, or you can spend some time on them and get amazing results.

I want to see the dyno chart where it is putting 340hp to the ground threw a tranny and tcase. One of the Ultra4 buggys I have worked on is makking 600hp at the flywheel and is only putting 285 to the ground.........

Ripp has a video on their site of a preliminary tune on an automatic JKU on 37s putting down 317hp at the wheels. I believe the 340hp quote on 34s.
