MOPAR 7 Pin Install

Seems there are a few conflicting install write ups out there on the 7pin harness, part number 82210214AB. From someone that has DONE this on a JK and added a brake controller is there any need to splice into a wire at the brake switch? The instructions look like plug and play at the tail light, 2 connections at the battery and blue wire through the cowl to brake controller. Is this it? I don't mind adding power and ground for my Prodigy but tapping into anything other than the front 12v power port spooks me. I have seen it written up both ways, one dude needed to splice into the brake switch, the other didn't. Paying an extra 20 bucks for the mopar part over etrailer s totally worth it for me if so.

Cheers.
