2 days ago we purchased a new 2015 Unlimited Rubicon. When we were working on the paperwork I opted for the Mopar Extended warranty, (100 ded. and 72 months with Maximum Care. The cost was $2,499.00. I decided to check online after purchasing and received a return call quoting me $1,600.00. HUH? that seems pretty darn inexpensive to me. Can a Mopar Maximum Care 72 month warranty cost that little?
They also pushed the KARR security package on me for $995.00 which I'm dropping later today after doing some research on the merit of it. I don't understand the value of it.
Going back to the dealer in a while to drop the KARR security package but I'm not sure if I should even discuss the extended warranty. $2,600 doesn't seem all that bad while $1,600 seems very low. Am I mistaken?

Assuming you have a 2015 JK, it comes with a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper and a 5 year/100,000 mile power train warranty. (2016 Jeeps go down to 5 year/60,000 mile power train). I went with the lifetime added care warranty that is pretty much bumper to bumper for life for about $2000 (don't quote me on price, it's around there). So if you're debating $1600-$2400, why not just get the lifetime? Also, the price I got quoted and purchased was at cost, well worth it in my eyes.
Yes, that $1600 price for the 6yr/100k Maximum Care is right. I would cancel the one you bought from your dealer and go with the cheaper one. For $2400 you can get the lifetime Maximum Care instead.
The only dealer add-on that I didn't really complain about was the Mopar EVTS at cost. I asked how much they charge for the lifetime Maximum Care and promptly declined. Just bought the lifetime Maximum Care (8 months and 11k miles after purchase) and decided to go with the 18-month interest-free, no-credit-check payments for it rather than plop down $2400 at once.
Thanks everyone. Just returned from the dealer with satisfaction. Closing thread
Just returned from the Jeep dealer here in Southern California. I'm pleased with the changes to the contract. Actually, since I only had the car for 2 days the old contract wasn't processed yet, a new contract was written up and signed.
The finance director I talked to lowered the 'Karr' additional anti-theft device from $995.00 to $349.00. She also lowered the extended warranty from $2,499.00 to $1,600.00. The changes brought my monthly payments down from $420.00 to $395.00. I wanted to drop the Karr security but since it's not my Rubi but the wife's and she said and she liked the security system I accepted the new lower price.
I'm fine with the changes. :iamhappy:
Thanks, everyone for your input.

Glad to hear you were able to negotiate the lower price. When we bought our 2013 JK I remember the finance manager tried to sell us the lifetime extended warranty for something like $3,500. I declined and bought it from one of the forum members for around $1,900. I even went back before I bought it and offered to buy it from my local dealer if they would match the $1,900 price. They said it was below their cost. I said thank you and left.
BTW, it is NOT a "car". You croak a cute little kitten whenever you call your Jeep a car.
Wow, $2400? Is that the going rate now? About 18 months ago, I bought the Lifetime Maxi-care from a gentleman I connected with on this forum (dealer in Kalamazoo MI) for $1795 out the door! With the fuel tank puke back issue, radio issue, and some small stuff I'm comfortable in that I think I've already got my moneys' worth...
On the flip side, name any other manufacturer that offers a lifetime warranty on any of their vehicles for a relatively reasonable price (Roughly 6% of the vehicle's sale price).
As mentioned on there, the lifetime Maximum Care plan is an exclusionary plan. That means that unless it's specifically excluded then it will be covered, unlike other plans where they only cover what is listed.
I've had extended warranties in the past and between the price and the STRESS involved getting them honored I wouldn't touch one for blood or money. jmo
Sounds like you're talking about a 3rd party extended service plan. Totally different than the Mopar extended warranty. The 3rd party plans aren't worth the paper they're written on, but the Mopar and other manufacturer extended warranties don't have the same headaches or issues that the 3rd party ones do.
I had an extended Mopar warranty on my 2008. Had problems with the fuel tank which was fixed under part of the regular warranty. Then I had brake problems. The cost of the repairs was just a bit shy of the deductible for the extended so ... I paid the full bill.
In my case I was 0 for 2 on getting any benefit from the extended warranty.
I'm not sure what makes you think that, it's not true at all. Mods don't void the standard warranty and they won't void the extended warranty. I had a relatively heavily-modified Challenger with the extended warranty, dealer never gave me any crap about any of it or denied any repairs that were unrelated to what I had done.
There are some dealers out there that aren't "mod-friendly" and will give people crap, but they legally can't deny a warranty claim simply because the vehicle has been modified in some way UNLESS the modifications have caused the covered part to fail.
Our MOPAR lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty will end up costing me less than 55-cents per day over the 10 years we plan on keeping our JK. I bought mine two years ago for less than $2,000 from the forum member who works at a Kalamazoo dealership, as previously mentioned.
That's less than the price of a candy bar that I do not need out of a vending machine. I'm willing to pay it for peace of mind, knowing I'll never have to pay for an expensive repair above the $100 ded.
Not to hijack this thread but without any extended warranty, what's the coverage for the powertrain? I'm at 39k miles and have a slight rattle in my transmission at times when accelerating. Manual transmission if that makes any difference.
My dealer offered the lifetime for $1910. Wasn't too sure so denied it. He said he would honor the price until the end of the month. Purchased 2015 Rubicon Unlimited last weekend at Ontario Chrysler/Jeep. The added peace of mind seems worthwhile. We normally keep our cars for 10+ years. I'm thinking of calling them up and taking the deal.
Finding insight on this topic was why I joined this forum.
That's a GREAT price if it is indeed the MOPAR Maximum Care bumper-to-bumper lifetime warranty. Those plans are around $2,400 nowadays at majorly discounted prices. Dealers usually try to sell them for $3,000-$3,500 when you buy your Jeep. Did they say that price was for the $100 ded. option?
If you keep your Jeep for 10+ years, as you said, the cost for it would be less than 55-cents per day.
I was just quoted the max care lifetime for $2495 w/ 18 months no interest financing. I asked to think about it, as I'd heard folks mention quotes in the $2100 range.
I've got 10,400 miles on it right now, so I've got a little time to decide.

I was quoted $2500 for a JKU with over 12k on the odometer. And just waiting to pull trigger, I have 26k on the jeep after 14mo, feel that I'm a solid candidate for lifetime warranty.
I own both a 14 Charger RT and my new 15 JKUWW...both have Lifetime Max Cares. Wouldn't be without one for the small price Chrysler charges for them. I'm a Finance Manager for a GM store...GMs warranty prices are nuts compared to Chrysler.
My mistake for not being more clear. The warranty package cost of $1910 was for the Added Care Plus at the Lifetime level. I will call later today to confirm. But the big question now is, in your experiences, does the price go up significantly if you wait a year or two?
I was quoted $2,200 with $100 ded and $1,800 with $200 for a Lifetime Max Care on my new Hard Rock. That is cost and I went with the $100 because after just 4 uses, you are ahead.
If you are referring to C***, he is no longer allowed to sell warranties on this site anymore. However, ChryslerWarrantyDirect.com is where a few of us in this thread have purchased our Lifetime MaxCare warranties.
Well Im back to theforums. I was a memeber years ago with a 2000 TJ and made the plunge and bought a 2014 JKU Polar edition. I am looking to purchase this warranty also. My sister has a Jeep COmmander and purchased the warranty when she bought her truck. I needed to borrow her truck to run some errands and I hear a noise coming from rear end or drivetrain. I as her how long it makes that noise her answer was "thats the way it normally sounds". Winds up she bring sit in for the noise and her window button was not working. They call her back and tell her they need the car an extra day to order the parts. In the end they replace her rear transfer case and also saw oil leaking near the motor and the oil cooler was cracked/leaking and replaced that. She pays her $100 and goes on her way. That whole job with labor and parts prob would have cost more then what she paid for her warranty.
Anyone have any insight on Max Care vs. Added Care plus? I went with the added care plus primarily because the finance manager I was dealing with said the max care didn't cover anything more than the added care plus on my JKU willy's. I have done extensive research online and found pretty much that to be true. Max care covers more stuff Ie. Heated seats, navigation, electronic disconnects... All of which my willy's does not have.m looking through the comparison chart though is king of gut wrenching, a lot more green check marks under the max care than added care....
It would just be nice for some reassurance from a third party (you guys) that the added care plus is a substantial enough plan for anything that goes wrong with my Willys.
The only way to really compare Added Care vs Max Care is to look at...
- What Added Care covers
- What Maximum Care excludes
Whatever is left is what Maximum Care covers over and above Added Care. So if you have something that's not covered by Added Care and not excluded by Maximum Care then the Maximum Care would cover it. Maximum Care is an exclusionary warranty, meaning if it's not excluded then it's covered. Added Care is an inclusionary warranty, meaning if it's not listed then it's not covered.
Does that help?
