Installed mine last night. It fit perfectly. The only thing I did was paint the silver cap screws black.

Good find! I ordered my Chinese gas door last night. I also ordered the tail light guards from the same vendor. We'll see how they work out!

If fits both JK and JKU. I put mine on (JKU) and had to remove one of two "pegs" to get the cover to fit. Very simple to remove, I twisted it right off. The other "peg" fits in a factory hole to line the cover up and to keep it from indexing. I hope this makes sense! And BTW, mine is a 2014.

I used flat black paint on my bolt heads and I'm very happy with the quality and ease of installation with this product.

I was at the Jeep Dealer yesterday, not much difference I could tell from the Fuel Doors they had on the Jeeps on the lot to the one I bought from China and installed on my 2012 JKU.

Mine looks every bit as good as theirs !

That's funny, mine came with black screws in place of the silver ones.

Sure you did!!

Ours came with the same OEM part number, and instruction sheet... The ones the dealers sell go for $129 and the point is.... Nobody knows why. There seems to be no difference between the two (or three) parts.

Set Screws

Anybody know the specs on those set screws? Have a fastenal close by, might just see if they have the hex screws in blackened finish already. Save the paint ever chipping.

I think that's the point of this thread- I can't tell a difference between the one shipped to me from China and the one you bought from the e-bay dealer. Except for the ~$40 price difference. And I think the $45 I paid is high for what it is . . .

Plus with three kids and other hobbies, mod money is hard enough to come by without giving it away needlessly.

Question.. I ordered my filler cover (haven't got it yet) and was wondering if I were to use this with a locking gas cap, do you think it would help reduce the chance of the lock on the gas cap freezing in the winter?

YES, it's out of the direct weather behind that door.

I know this is nitpicky, but I bought the Rugged Ridge and wish I had bought the MOPAR one.

I had the factory one on my last Jeep and decided to add one to my new Jeep. I thought "it just keeps the snow out of the fuel cap area, do I really need to spend the big $$ on it"? so I got the cheap Rugged Ridge from my local 4x4 shop.

Seems cheap and tinny, and made me realize yes, sometimes you just have to pay for quality. Don't get me wrong it works fine, I just notice its not as nice as the MOPAR one...

Things that make you go Hmmmm

Mine shipped to me from China. The box picture of the same part on Amazon.com clearly shows "Made in the USA". Hmmm.

I'm happy regardless. Or will be as long as it fits correctly.

He is a mopar dealership, honestly if I would have read this thread first I would have went with the China one if it is as good as all you say. I can almost bet the mopar one you get at dealers is made in china.....

Ordered mine from eBay on 11/10 and it arrived from China yesterday (11/21). Installed this morning (easy) and noticed 2 things (not issues). First one was I had cut off and sand flush one of the index tab guides as my 2013 only has one guide hole at the top. The other was the quality of the plastic insert itself. The factory Mopar piece you remove is of much higher quality. However once you get it all installed with the door, it's definitely worth the savings. Highly recommend you watch the a Taraflex Fuel Door Install video on YouTube.

Got mine today, fuel door and tail light covers. (Both from our communist, Asian overlords)

As others have mentioned, the fuel door insert has 2 indexing nipples on the back, but the Jeep only has one hole. A quick swipe of the razor knife took care of the extra one.

For anyone installing the tail light guards, I have 2 questions. 1. Why do they include screws? The original ones worked fine. 2. Why do they call for a T20 torx bit? The factory hardware, and included screws, are all Philips head.
