Got my 2014 Flame Red 2-door JK with factory half doors last month. Loving the half doors. They're a little louder on the highway, especially above 70mph..... but my gas mileage SUCKS above 70, so I keep it below that anyhow. Really, really happy. I can drop the top, store the uppers behind the back seats, and it's *almost* the same as going doorless. And if it starts raining, I can put it all back together and not get wet.
Now if I can just come up with some soft storage bags for the doors, or some kind of rack, so i can fold up the back seat and mount them back there... go doorless but keep the doors with me!
What are people doing for aftermarket automatic locks, by the way? I'd like to have a remote and an alarm that locks the doors and the tailgate. I don't need switches in the dash, just the key fob. (Since I ordered my 2014 with half doors, I didn't get power options)
Looking to keep it relatively inexpensive, as I just dropped quite a bit of quid on the jeep itself.
I checked into that. Dealer installed option vs. an aftermarket setup. Aftermarket is the way to go. Those guys do it for a living and will do a better job than the dealer. THe price was about half of what the dealer wanted to do it.
Hey Nick, quick question. I read on the Jeep website that the 2014 comes with map reading lights in the rear view mirror, is this a standard feature? I also think it said that it was auto dimming? Just wondering if the half doors eliminated some of those features.
Was that a response to me? I'm not having anyone "do" it. I'm going to install the locks myself. My question is what kits are people using for the doors and tailgate?
Yep, it was at you. I checked into it. The harness plug is there, but the wiring is not. So, you'd need to get the mopar harness for the doors that have it as an option. Or, let a shop do it. They usually bundle the installation into the cost of the product. I have not seen any kit for the install.
