Mopar hood lock FML

So I bought a mopar hood lock to lock down my hood since I have an AEV heat reduction hood waiting to be painted and an SPOD under the hood. So when I was just trying to install the lock I had to remove my Wild Boar Grill then I was just fitting the lock on before I rivitted it on. I realized my rivit gun didn't have the right size so I figured I'll see how it looks anyway so I put the grill back up. The hood lock was not low enough and the grill blocked the key whole completely... My problem is now... I have a $160 hood lock that I can't use and already coded my key to the lock so I can't return it.

I'm going to play with it again... I don't want to modify the grill though... If I can't get it to work ill see if I can get it reset and sell it on here.

maybe rivet a 4" x 4" 1/8 steel plate where hood lock should be measure the grill against that. Then cut the steel plate to accommodate the lock and make holes to rivet the lock to plate. you would have to lower the hood latch too. maybe just some washer and longer screws. might work.
