This is an FYI. I saw this posted on the web, link below. I am interested in the Mopar brake up grade. As you can imagine, the parts dept. knew nothing about it. I contacted the editor and his responce is below...with prices and part numbers! I called parts back and emailed the details and they now can order the parts!
That is the official press release announcing the new hardware. Here's the info you need: Big Brake Kit for Jeep Wrangler – Part No. P5160051: $795 Master Cylinder and Booster for Jeep Wrangler – Part No.P5160050: $245
I've also dropped an E-mail to Chrysler PR, just to confirm on-sale dates for the new parts.
Maybe e-mail that link to your dealer, so he/she can educate themselves. Maybe because it is so new, the dealer/corporate contact hadn't heard of it yet.
Holy cow that's awesome. Just looking around at some of the discount parts suppliers that's 673.48 for the kit and 213.44 for the master cyl and booster. They just destroyed the market for every other hack job aftermarket kit out there...
I spoke to the parts / service guy. The correct kit for me and what I want is the Big Brake Kit (that comes with everything -13-inch rotors, dual piston calipers, brake lines, heavy-duty pads for the front axle and a matching brake booster and master cylinder).
He said just adding the master cylinder won’t work b/c of the ABS pump, that controls the fluid to the calipers. You need the bigger lines to pump more fluid. He is going to get me the cost for the dealer install.
Holy cow if the master cyl and booster is already included in the kit--this is a super good deal. That is like half the cost of other equivalent big brake kits already out there.
Hope this performs well--if you get it installed let us know details...
If you go to or call the dealer it's important to have the article or at least to part numbers. It was just released yesterday and the dealers have no clue about it.
"Booster and master cylinder also are available separately." I'm not the most mechanically savvy guy in the world... Is there a braking benefit that could be gained with just these vs the whole kit?
Thanks for the pix: those parts look quite impressive!
First a kickass 2" Mopar Lift and now this. Looks like Jeep is finally getting serious about keeping some of the huge Wrangler aftermarket business for itself.
Now, if only those Jeep dealers could get their act together...

I'm going to have this kit installed... I want more brakes.
Big Brake Kit
The Jeep Performance Parts Big Brake Kit includes 13-inch rotors, dual piston calipers, brake lines, heavy-duty pads for the front axle and a matching brake booster and master cylinder (must have at least 17-inch wheels). Booster and master cylinder also are available separately.

I may install factory door checks as well... need to see these first.
Door Checks
Available for the front and rear, Authentic Jeep Accessories Door Checks provide extra restraints to help keep doors in position when open.
Door Check, Rear for Jeep Wrangler – Part No. 82214791: $140
Door Check, Front for Jeep Wrangler – Part No. 82214790: $140
I realize the Euro models have the higher towing capacity. But is it confirmed that they have these brakes and they are the reason? Sorry if it's in the attachment, but I can't read it as the print is too small on my screen and it gets blurry.
Thinking about this for the 37's I'm running. Anyone tried them out yet? Would these be the equivalent of other aftermarket brake kits performance wise?
I don't think Chrysler would contract with a small company for brake components.. if you compare, the castings and rotors are completely different. Why would they pay royalties when they don't need to?
My guess the Mopar kit is from components assembled from the OE parts bin.. perhaps with minor changes.
if anyone gets a chance who has this kit, would you please (if possible) post a comparison of the OEM pads with the performance kit pads. I found that I have 2 of the larger diameter rotors, part number ending in 177AA.
1. Those are the pads, not the rotors.
2. They fit the 1500, not the 2500.
Believe me, there is a world of difference between the brakes on a 1500 and 2500. The 1500 does have 13.2" rotors on the front.
how do u like it? Do u get a lot more stoping power with it ?
