Mopar steering and swaybar skid plate

Does anyone have any luck with the mopar steering/swaybar skid plate? I'd like to replace the plastic junk on the front. I can pick it up for around 160 plus tax via discount through the dealer. Worth the money?

I like mine. Had it on since new with no issues and it fits perfect.

I've got the skid for a stock bumper. I'm having a heck of a time getting the darn thing installed correctly.

Mine will be here Wednesday. The one I saw in person looked heavy duty and fit perfectly so ordered one for myself. The electric sway disconnect motor looks too vulnerable to risk it.

Good luck with the install. I don't see any way to tighten the nuts on the bolts that go through the bottom of the factory bumper. Once the plate is installed, you can't reach the nuts on the inside of the bumper. Maybe you need to take off the plastic cover between the grill and the top of the bumper?

I believe you need to use a screwdriver or something else to wedge between the nut and side of the bumper. That is just a guess tho. I will let you know wed. how to do it when I put mine on.

That "plastic junk" is not a skid plate but, rather, an air dam to help direct air to the engine and water away from it.

While doing some recent off-roading, I got hung-up and ended up having to take mine off on the trail. They are attached by plastic phillips screws that go into a plastic fastener. When trying to remove the screw, you really can't put any pressure on the screw. Only use enough pressure to keep the screwdriver in the screw head. Mine were damaged and just ordered some replacements from my dealer. They're only $.60 each. Not sure if I'll even replace the air dam.

mopar makes a metal skid plate to replace the plastic air dam. That is what this thread is about. Two totally different items.

I had it mounted in 30 minutes. Not sure why the OP is having problems. I was able to get a 15mm box end wrench inside the channel to hold the nut. I have an electric swaybar motor in the way and of the passenger side I had to come in from the driver's side to get to the nut but not that bad. It would have been easier if I had a second set of hands but I was impatient and wanted to get it mounted. Looks pretty solid so hopefully it will do the job.

To the OP come in behind the bumper not from the top or side.
