Mopar sun bonnet

I'm putting this in JK section instead of GENERAL because its going on a 2011 2dr sport.Jeep Wrangler Accessories - The Official Jeep Parts and Accessory eStore offered by Chrysler part #82209928. Cant copy and paste to exact page. Type in part # in search to get to exact page.SORRY about this!!

Anybody have this? Got it with my $500 mopar bucks.Have yet to put it on. Looks like a easy install 10-15 mins maybe.

Your thoughts.

THANKS in advance!!

I actually haven't seen anybody with this, however, I be it is just like the Bestop Bikini, so my guess would be that the install should be fairly quick. I hope that the bonnet came with a header so that it can attach to the windshield. I know with the bikini, you had to buy the header separate.

I bet everything is included though, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Has the front latches on it like the hard tops. Thats why I opened the box to see if header attatchment was included. Was happy to see latches!!

I was looking at getting some kind of bikini top, but house building keeps my funds limited, so I decided to do something different.

I do it like this:

Kind of hard to see, but basically a 1 1/2" donut made out of a pool noodle. The first time I did it, I didn't notice the sag in the rear without the rest of the hard top. And I clipped the edge with the door. Just put it between the roll bar and run the thumbscrews through them.

No additional cost. Still get the open air feeling, without the FL sun. I've had it off road and ran with it at 75MPH. No issues.

I figure I'll run it this way until I get a soft top later this year.

seadog...correct me if I'm wrong, but what I think I'm looking at is you took a pool noodle, cut it into 1 1/2" length inserted it between sound bar and tops right where thumbscrews would go.Put thumbscrews back in and that gave you what 1 inch of open space?

What do you mean by you clipped the edge with the door?

Seadog-you should not have a sag in the freedom top peices at all once they are back on the Jeep. Did you flip the little plastic piece down in the rear before you put them one without the rest of the top? They are there so you can securly tighten the screws that hold the rear of the pieces on.

Exactly.

And by clipped. i mean the top back edge of the door touched the rear bottom edge of the top. No damage, but I wanted to keep it from happening.

And, looking at the next post, it looks like Jeep was ahead of us in the design phase. I'll answer that separately.

I did not know that. I've seen them each time I've taken off the top, but really never paid attention to them. About the size of a deck of cards.

I will check them out in the morning, when I take the trail top off.

Thanks.

And it is as advertised. They flip down and keep the top at the right height. Thanks.
