I have been running a Mopar Sunbonnet on my 2010 Sahara for a a couple months now. I picked up the door surrounds so I could run the soft top version for a better weather seal. All is good and tight behind the header the the header itself does not seal well. In fact, when driving into a head wind (....this is North Dakota we are talking about) both sides of the header lift up enough that I can see outside daylight through them.
The built in header that comes with the Mopar Sunbonnet is plastic. I see were the 2007 - 09 Factory softops had a TSB to replace built in plastic header with a metal one to deal with poor fit complaint. When reviewing the TSB (you basically replace the built in factory plastic header with a metal one ....no flex) the header in this sunbonnet appears to be exactly the same as the factory softop built in header.
I have a great dealer and they tried to see if they could use the TSB to get me the better header. But the fact I have a 2010 VIN and the TSB applies to 2007 -09 VINs was a no go.
They are going to order a another new sunbonnet and see how it fits. I am not hopeful.
I am curious of those with Factory soft tops or those that are running the Mopar Sunbonnet if you have any advice or what experiences you have with header fit.
I like running the Sunbonnet (Safari top) in the summer time, I just need to get a better fit so it gets quieter and I can run in the rain when windy.
