They do look just like the genuine Morimoto lights I bought from TRS a few months ago that are DOT approved all the way down to the wire harness. Mine are a definite upgrade to stock, have a decent cutoff, but DO flicker even with the TRS anti-flicker harnesses...
Interesting find. I just spoke with a sales guy from The RetroFit Source, he told me that they are going to offer an official sealed Morimoto LED light around the end of this year. Full email below. For reference I asked about the old sealed 7 lights they offered in the past.
"Yeah those have been discontinued by Morimoto in preparation for the new Sealed7 LED headlight assembly, similar to the JW Speaker headlights multi lens style. They are also going to be re releasing the Sealed7 with a single lens LED projector similar to the previous HID Sealed7 instead of the multi lens style that the JW Speaker uses currently.
We should be seeing more options from Morimoto on that towards the end of the year I believe."
So it looks like a multi lens style and a single lens style are forthcoming.
They are. I have seen the drawings/design and they look great. Love Morimoto stuff and run the fogs in my Grand and the XTorch bar on my LJ for now. Will be selling my JWS and running the new Morimoto heads as soon as they have them.
However, more and more things are being found that Morimoto has copied, or bought and slapped their name on and raised the price, so who knows if these new V2's really are proprietary to Morimoto....
"Genuine Morimoto", so you know you're getting legitimate non-conforming, non-performing crap instead of some anonymous, generic non-conforming, non-performing crap.
Read my OP. As I said, I will confirm it on Monday when mine arrive, but there is no mention of the mounting tabs being out of alignment on the ones I have linked.
Mounting Tabs ARE "off", so they will need ground down.
And the Ass of the Lamp is too fat to fit in the headlight bucket, so the OE bucket will need opened up.
Does this make these cheap Chinese POS's, NO!! Beam pattern looks nice, they got some good weight to them, lens feels like it MAY be glass, and build quality looks great on them.
I got some offroad lamps that use a 7" headlight that I'll drop these into, and be all set.
Here they are already mounted up in my KC Buggy Headlight Housings. They fit 100% with no modding needed. Now to get them mounted up on the Front Bumper.
Everything is mounted, wired, and ready for aiming tonight.
Headlights are the $60 Pertersen's I posted about a few months ago, the Morimoto's I linked to in the OP are mounted in the Buggy Housings on the Bumper, and the LED Fogs are Morimoto's as well.
I decided to pull the trigger last night. The light pattern in the above pics wasn't perfect but it really isn't bad considering the price. They accept returns within 30 days if they really suck, and they come with a 1-yr warranty if they fry in a few months. I usually stick to known brand names but I figured this could be worth trying out for the massive savings.
I saw the same seller had a bid auction going on for like $55, but that quickly rose to $66 before it ended. I ended up doing the BIN price of $67, and got the 20% a second item deal and ordered the 12" LED light bar for $16 extra. This morning the price went up to $99 so I guess I picked the right time! I also got an email from the company explaining that they had a bad batch of lights and rather than risk failure, they asked if I would mind waiting a week or so to get a set from the new batch they have coming in. They also offered to throw in a pair of LED fog lights to make up for the delay. I thought that was nice of them, a stand up seller. I will be getting the headlights, 12" light bar and 4" fogs for $87 shipped.
I had planned to buy a set of JW Speakers for my JK after reading all the complaints about the horrible lighting. But after owning it a few months I really didn't have much of a problem with the stock lights. My Mustang has really nice factory HIDs and the lights are definitely better than the Jeep, but not an earth shattering difference. Our MR2 headlights suck was worse than the Jeep! I guess where I live is pretty well lit at night, but we have driven one dark country road at night and I didn't have any problems with vision compared to the Mustang on the same road at night as well. If these turn out to be not so great, maybe I can do some kind of retrofit into the MR2 buckets and use them there.

Yea I was hoping the same thing about the buckets, will have to see how they fit when they get in. The seller is claiming direct fit, but who knows. The dimension diagram looks like the exact same dimensions as the JWS, but I understand that isn't some kind of highly detailed engineering drawing!
Now that I am looking at the items the seller has, I see what they are sending me is 4" light bars, not the 4" fog lights that would replace my current fogs. I am going to contact them and see if I can work a deal...
Seller doesn't ship to Canada, that's disappointing [emoji20]
