I have 2015 Wrangler (4door ) would like to know if anyone used Moto Tote MTXS motorcycle hitch carrier ( I have Ducati Hypermotard 821 ) bike which I would like to use the carrier for. Now, my question is can I use this carrier with jeep spare tire attached ??? Will appreciate any input..
Thank You.
In a word, barely. Your Hyper weighs 386 lbs dry and 436 lbs wet (fuel, oil, coolant). That hitch carrier weighs 63 lbs. So, you're looking at 499 lbs wet weight.
The '15 JKU factory hitch is a Class III hitch which has a recommended tongue weight limit of 500 lbs. If you're using a non-factory hitch, you'll have to check its Class Level / tongue weight rating.
The ramp on the Moto Tote you're looking at probably weights about 12-15 lbs so you could keep the ramp inside your vehicle which would lower the tongue weight down to 487 lbs.
I've seen that Moto Tote and it tends to sway side to side a bit.
I use the Versahaul Sport ( | Versahaul on my Suburban. it's a little more expensive and a little heavier, but with the ramp inside the vehicle, it's about 64 lbs., and it has a anti-sway lock.

Oh, as far as whether it will fit with your spare tire attached, I don't know. I didn't read your question closely and was responding as to whether your hitch would hold your bike and that carrier.
Moto Italia - Yeah that's me !!! How you been ? And by the way, I have class IV hitch on my jeep. There is another version of moto tote but I opted for MTXS because of its weight.
I may have to reconsider. I looked into Versahaul but I think they are a bit heavy.
I have the MotoTote MTX M3. It does sway a little. After some modification I was able to reduce the sway. I use it to haul my KTM 250 SXF. It's obviously a lot lighter than your bike. I don't have a problem with the spare tire. It's tricky to load though. With a heaver bike you may need a second person to load it up. Not sure if that helps.
Bought it from some 4x4 store . Suposedly for older models jeep but I was assured it would fit to my JK . Honestly do not remember what brand it is ,took some pics for you. Been riding a lot ???
That looks like a pretty substantial hitch. Yeah, been riding quite a bit. The Rivale is so much fun and dramatically more comfortable than the F4. Unfortunately our riding season is just about over.
You may not know but I sold my F4/312R to a good friend of mine. That hurts too. But at least I get to see it (and ride it if I want) periodically. I bought a Rivale and love it.
Good to know others are hauling their bikes around with these hitch mounted carriers. I just purchased a trail/motorcross bike and would like to be able to carry it w/o dragging my traielr out if possible.
Am I better of spending the money on the versahaul or os there another brand that works as well for less $$$$
My motorcyle weight 250 ish lbs.... highly doubt I would even need to haul my Buell & if I do I figure due to it's 400 lb weight I would need to get out the trailer
Good think about Florida , we get to ride year round. Bad think is, we have no roads to ride. Its flat ( S.Florida ) As for geting a trailer , it's not what I want . I want hitch carrier .
I have a pick up truck but I need to be able to haul my bike with a Jeep.
