Anyone use MotorKote in their wrangler? It says you can use it in motor, Transmission and power steering. You can add every four oil changes. Please let me know what everyone thinks and if they have had experience with this. I searched the forum and nothing. Thanks
I have used but haven't in quite awhile. I did overheat an engine extensively(coolant leak) that had it in it and thought it probably saved the engine from being fubar.
Personally I don't add a damn thing to my oil anymore after all the Duralube's and Slick-50's back in the 80's-90's. Modern oil packages are precisely designed and shouldn't be trifled with. Adding the wrong thing can drastically reduce the efficacy and lubricity of your oil. I know I'm opening a huge can of worms here, with the "I'm smarter than the oil chemists / engineers and know how to make my oil better by adding snake-oil to it" crowd, but I have been trading my vehicles in with over 150,000 miles on them with no issues, rather than junk-heaping them because the engines blew up. Just my $.02 and good advice.
I would not recommend this or adding any other type of additive to oil. If you use good oil nothing additional is needed. Also, you never know how different chemicals are going to react together.
Everything on their website screams snake oil. What is it supposed to DO that your oil doesn't do already? The products they compare it to are used to thicken engine oil but it claims not to do that. I'm too lazy to look up an MSDS to see what's in it.
I have not used anything what so ever I just always hear the commercials for it and a buddy I know uses it in his cars. I plan on putting nothing in my jeep was just curious what the community thought. I trust you guys so if a bunch of you said hell Ya I use it then I might. Thanks for all the input everyone.
Many will oppose this, for various reasons, but I've been using Mobil 1 full synthetic since new. I used Pennzoil Platinum on the last change, but always use a Purolator Pure 1 filter.
I have used Amsoil in my last 5 vehicles for a total of about 350,000 + miles and have used Wix oil filters with no problems. My 1999 GMC 4500 crew cab dully diesel I used Amsoil grease and it had 180,000 miles and I never had to replace any ball joints or tie rod ends.
