MPG's for Jk with 265/75/R16 tires.

I want to put 265/75/R16 tires on my stock Jeep and I am wondering if my gas mileage will suffer or will it stay around the same. Because I went from 265 to 285 on my 04 F150 and my mileage got better.

I put 265/75/16 Duratracs on my JKU Sport S right away and i'm getting right about 15.5 mpg so far. Granted I only have about 300 miles on my Jeep so far so hopefully it goes up.

I've got an 08 JKU with 33k miles and new 265/75/16 Firestone Destination ATs and I'm getting around 13-14.5 mpg.

265/75/16s are around 31.65" tall and the 255/75/17s on my 08 are around 31.75" (with current tread wear) and I get 14-15 MPG city and 15-17 MPG mixed city / highway driving.

Tread style will also make a difference. A/Ts will get slightly (.5 MPH) better mileage than M/Ts of the same size.

Here is an interesting read on this topic on JP Magazine: How Tire Choice Affects Gas Mileage - Jp Magazine

What size tires do you have now and what is your current MPG?
