I plan on ordering a 2017 JK soon, or maybe even a 2018 JL if I'm patient enough. We all know how many options you have when building a Jeep from shop, so my question is, what are features that you think are "must have" not only for daily use and general performance, but also re-sale value when you've reached the end of the road with your vehicle?
I know you can get a lot of after market parts for way cheaper than the Jeep website offers, so I'm trying to keep it simple when I order.
The models I've narrowed it down to are the Sport S, Willys Wheeler (i don't need auto windows), and the new Big Bear model. I'm leaning toward the Sport S, but these other two options are definitely tempting because I can get them for pretty much the same price with the others having better off-roading features. (rock rails, better tires, ect...)
Features I'll be getting for sure from the factory:
- 3.73 Front / Rear Axle Ratio
-Trac-Lok® Differential Rear Axle
- LED Lighting Group
- Deep Tint Sunscreen Windows (how tinted are they by the way?)
- Freedom Top® Black 3-Piece Hard Top
- All-Weather Slush Mats
- Supplemental Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
I know many will say the Connectivity Group, Cold Weather Group and / or the Power Convenience Group are a must have, but in a vehicle like this, I really love the classic wind down windows and nothing fancy in the car. Also, I think it's a good safety feature having manual windows. I plan on replacing the sound system and stereo myself down the road as well as the tires, so I'm not even gonna bother.
I think that about covers it, guys. Is there anything that I should be getting that I'm not? I know the Power Convenience Group will raise my resale value, but I obviously don't plan on getting rid of it for a while and I can manage.
Something I'm curious about is the Engine Block Heater that Jeep offers for $95. Worth it or not? I do live in an area where it gets cold, but nothing below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
I know it already seems like I know what I want, but I just want everyone's opinion on this. Thanks!
