Bought a rubicon hard rock 1 year ago. Up until now, just been doing easy fire roads and enjoying scenery. Was gonna get a willys model but figured I'd get the rubicon so I wouldn't have to add lockers later on if I wanted them. Never planned on heavy rock crawling but thought, never know if I'll need them.
Anyways, went out to cleghorn road yesterday and did trails. These weren't too crazy but for this beginner it was nuts. I was amazed at the capabilities of a stock rubicon.
I put it in 4 ol and turned on lockers and had a blast. She just crawled over everything !!!!!!!! Bumped and scraped the bottom a few times but OMG for what I did it was impressive. Just running stock it was awesome!
Good thing now is the girlfriend said we should get it lifted !!!!!!!!

Agreed! I took my HR out yesterday for its first offroading session. Only 1300 miles, and still has dealer tags on it. Followed some friends of mine up at least one black diamond trail in Hollister, and then crawled through a small rock obstacle course. I wouldn't have been able to make it on my own, because I'm still very green and learning, but we had a great crew and a couple really good spotters.

Got some scrapes on the wheels and rock rails, but I knew when I got it, it wouldn't be just a daily driver or mall crawler.

Enjoy - they're amazing!
