Mustang to JK transition

I thought I would end up regretting it everyday but each day I love my jeep more on more! Everywhere I go I get people eyeballing black beauty. Glad I ended up getting me one. BEST vehicle I have EVER owned :-)

My wife has a 2010 Mustang GT that we both absolutely love, and I thought about a second GT for myself but ultimately got the Jeep. I think I actually enjoy driving the Jeep more. The biggest thing for me is almost nobody ever wants to race my Jeep and nobody really rides my ass, they just see a slow white brick and go around me!

Unfortunately sometimes driving the Mustang is a beating since we have an off-road pipe, everybody, regardless of what POS they're driving always want to race or be an A-hole.

Back in 1991 I was undecided from buying a GT mustang or a 91 renegade wrangler .. What made up my mind was the mustang was 13k new and the wrangler was 21k new .. Since then I've owned 3 mustangs , 2 convertible and 1 hardtop.. But always wanted a wrangler since forever , so when I bought the 2007 jk I felt the same as you , loving the wrangler WAY more than the mustangs .. Now I have a 2013 and love it even more than the 07 .. My only regret is that I wished I would have bought the jeep in 1991 instead .. But my income at age 20 couldn't pay a 21k loan . I still remember my payments on the 13k mustang $274.72 for 5 years lol

I will forever be a pony boy. After all, the mustang is getting ready for a 50th anniversary ;-) I'm all about iconic cars. Got my 2008 corvette as well but rarely ever drive it. I feel like I need to mature a few years to drive that bad boy.

When I bought my Jeep, I was choosing between it and a '10 Mustang with a 6-speed stick, leather interior, and the full-roof sunroof. Both were priced equally, and were comparable in miles and condition. I bought the Jeep because I figured it would be more fun for what my future new home would offer (Central Arizona), and because I figured that I would be a danger to myself and others in the Mustang on open roads.

I traded an 03 350Z for my JK, the best part is that I can drive the speed limit (or attempt to) and still feel like the baddest motherf****r on the road.

I still have my 03 GT. I had gotten too used to the car and was thinking of ways to make it faster, but not really wanting to. Since I drive my Jeep more, it makes my Mustang feel faster, when I do drive it.

I swapped my '07 GT500 convertible for my '13 Sahara, which I owned for three years.

Here in MN the season for enjoying such a car is 5-6 months at best, so I felt I had too much money tied up in something I wasn't using enough and decided I wanted a new daily driver with no payment.

I thought I might regret it, but oddly enough I don't. The only thing I miss is the power (mine dyno'd at 543 at the tire)!

Not Looking Back

We got rid of our 2012 Audi A6 and our 2012 Tahoe for our 2013 JKU. Best move we ever made. The Jeep is so much more fun to drive, on and off the road.

I absolutely love my 2011 Mustang GT with the 6-speed, 5.0 V8, Brembo brakes etc. But I love it so much I only drive it on nice days. In Seattle that is laughable. I have 6,000 miles on it is three years and have been trying to sell it for a month. I am now shopping it around for trade in on a new JK. I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner.

The only drawback to trading it in is that I have to go local. I'd rather sell it and buy a new Wrangler out of state and drive it back through Colorado or Yellowstone. I know I'll miss it but I'l get so much more use out of it. Given it will go off-road, I won't worry about a little bit of rain. On top of that, my DD is an F-150 and it will be so nice to be able to maneuver around town in a smaller ride.

As I get older, I am realizing that you tend to regret the things you don't do more than the things you do. Crush, Dozer and Gecko are gone and I am having a hard time finding a white one with the right options. Hopefully this week!

1998-2001: 1998 Tacoma TRD Pre Runner. I had to have a 4X4 for my new snowboarding addiction. I didnt ever miss that one.

2001-2007: 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4X4. I lifted that 3", installed a cat back and added 33" all terrains and beat it up in the las Vegas dessert. It was fun. I miss that in-line 6 but had to have a big boy truck.

2007-2010: 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche Z71. I bought that gem with only 36,000 miles on it and it was immaculate inside and out. I heavily moded it out with a 8"lift, 35"muds, gearing change, cold air intake, cat back and power programmer. I kick myself for getting rid of that but I wanted a newer 4X4 with all the new bells and whistles.

2010-2012: 2006 H2 Hummer which was another gem I found with only 26,000 miles on it and it was immaculate inside and out. No mods, just stock. I loved it but I was missing my pickup truck. Wife was pissed because she loved it more than me.

2012-2013: 2011 F150 Platinum 4X4 6.2L rapture engine. Found this brand new 2011 sitting on a January of 2012 lot, another gem. They payed off my entire note of the H2 and made me a deal I could not refuse. I put a 2.5" leveling kit and wrapped the stock wheels with 35" muds. Now, I have always wanted a wrangler. I saw my buddies JKU with the doors off and top down and fell in love.

2013-present: 2013 Back JKU RUBI. I woke up on the morning of July 7 2013 and went out to just test drive. They payed off my entire note of my F150 Platinum and made me an offer I could not refuse. I must say, I miss the power of that 6.2 and all the bells and whistles the platinum offered but the permasmile I have and all the compliments I get helps me forget that. I already put a 3"BDS lift with the BDS tuned Fox Shocks, 35" muds with 17" Ballistic Jester black with red accent wheels, Trusses and lower arm skid plates. I hope I keep this one forever. You got to love the jeep wave. And the wife loves it, she hated my F150.

Isn't that the truth. Our 01 has magnapacks and 11 year old cats so we get the same thing. The car has 160k miles and is used for commuting. It's not fast anymore but I love it.. Love the way it smells (exhaust and interior). Love driving it. Love the 25mpg for my 62 mile commute. Love that its been paid for over 10 years. We will drive it til it dies then put in a 4valver

I love my JK but for different reasons.

I totaled my 02 GT and drove my dad's truck for a couple months while I looked for a new car. I've wanted a Jeep since high school and seriously considered it for the first time during the "carless" months. The reason I didn't buy one then was the closest dealer only had an Islander on the lot and wanted what I thought was way too much money. I kept looking and had a cherry 2009 GT basically land in my lap. The car was valued at $28k, but they were only asking $21,600. Needless to say, I jumped on that car and loved every minute of it, glass roof and all.

Fast forward to this past spring...

Spending 6 months unemployed last year and cashing in my 401k early really took its toll on my tax situation. The only way I could come up with paying my taxes was to trade the Mustang in and defer payments for a couple months. So, I started looking for a Jeep. In the end, I realize I could have had a new 2 door for just a little more than I paid for my 09 JK, but I'm still happy with the purchase. Yeah, my JK needs a couple minor issues sorted out, but I really don't mind turning the wrenches.

Now, to save up for the lift and wheels/tires!

Sold my '03 Terminator and my '01 Lightning a week before buying my JK. Didn't have to sell either, but decided it was time for a change.

I'm still holding on to my '04 Lightning but I just can't justify keeping it any longer. Especially since I bought a motorcycle last year for my go fast toy.

One thing I can't say though, is that the Jeep is more fun to drive than my lightning. At least on road. Something about a big truck sounding like it does and moving as fast as it does really gets me.

I have a 99 corvette bought brand new in dec98. 2001 I put a 427LS1 in it then 2006 I redid it and put a 427LS2 with a hotter cam. A neat 10sec street car.

But the Wrangler is my choice every time I want to just go out and drive. Its not fast at all but just a cool ride.
For whatever reason the Jeep is just more fun to drive.

I even sold my streetbike (yamaha R1) and dont regret that one bit.

again, the wrangler is my choice whenever "just driving around"

Also, chicks inexplicably seem to dig the Jeep way more than the GT500, judging by the honks and waves.
