My 6 months/6000 mile GY MT/R review

I bought my Goodyear MT/R w/Kevlar 285/70/17 about 6 months ago and have put almost 6000 miles on them and here is my review of this tire at this point.

I have lost 1/32 of an inch of tread which is surprising. I expected more then that by now. I can find no cuts or chips out of the tread. And there is no cuts in the side walls. I have aired down only once but the tires aired down well with good flex and no cracks occurred during the off road run with them aired down So here is my review for each surface

Snow- A.......Don't get a lot here but this year we had several 4 to 8" and in 4hi it went right through it. Wish I could had deeper test though

Ice- ?..........Had a little under the snow and had no slippage but not enough to judge

Wet road- B..Does real well on wet road but one hard rain I did slip a little on sharp curve but only once

Dry paved road-A.. For a mud tire this thing is pretty quiet and smooth on the road. It is a nice ride

Rocks- A++..Took it on a rocky river bed and some steep rocky trails, excellant traction

Mud- A........It handles the mud with no problem in 4hi and 4L. Would give A+ but 2hi there is some slippage on real muddy inclines but put it in 4wd and it takes right off

Dirt- A++...Dirt trails and dirt steep hill are a piece of cake and this tire eats it up

Gravel- C....It eats right through it but it also grabs the gravel and several trips over the same road leaves track marks and makes the road bouncy

Air down on trails A++.. Excellent traction on the climbs I have done. Limited run with it aired down but it held up great

Overall I give it an A and highly recommend the tire

The only downfall I can see with the tire is the weight. Gas mileage takes a pretty good hit. but if you do multiple types of off roading from dirt to rock then this tire is one of the best I ever owned.

I really like this tire

Nice review Rics. It good to see peeps who take the time to share their real world experience with something for their jeeps to others. I've been through 5 sets of tires since buying my jeep 10 months ago so I'm in no position to share much yet except the more you know the better decision you'll make towards your wheel and tire purchase.
