My entire glove box was stolen!?

Had my top and doors off with the jeep in my driveway. Someone ripped out the entire glovebox. I have searched the forums and google for other instances with no luck.
Is this common?

And more importantly, if I get a Tuffy Glovebox will it be able to be ripped out? Rendering the purchase useless?

Look like someone needed a glove box for their jeep.

Somebody probably had theirs locked and it was broken in to, destroying the box in the process. It's a shame that a fellow jeeper would rip another off

It was locked and the center console was unlocked. Took the lug key, some charging cables, aux cable., my good wrench, etc. just annoying. Nothing of true value.

Should I get a Tuffy? What's to stop that from being ripped out?

I would be more concerned with the lug key right now. How do you fix that issue?

You can get an adapter for the wheels online. That doesn't worry me too much, I guess.

oh wow, I'm sorry man, i didn't think it would get ripped off if its as locked, i havens sen the tuffy ones but i don't see them being better unless they replace the rails where the box attaches, they're made of plastic thats why the box can be popped out . i would invest with under the seat locking boxes and just keep the glove box unlocked and empty.

The right socket and a half inch breaker bar will snap the locking nut right off. they just keep honest people honest I wonder I saw online a console lock box that slid right into your console has anyone had or used this and are they thief proof they look pretty tuff .

So, the card with the code number wasn't in the glove box?

I have a Smittybilt in my Jeep...bolts in along the edges with about 9-10 bolts. Not impossible to take out, but much more difficult then the stocker, with it's cheesy little strap. It's pretty solid and I have no regrets on the purchase...

If they took the lug key then you might get your wheels stolen next. Get a replacement lug key, take those lugs off and get new locking lugs.

The Tuffy Glovebox is all steel and bolts into the frame of the dash. The bolts are covered when the glovebox closes, so there's no access from the outside.

I've had one for a few years and love it. Very solid. I always keep it locked.

Card with the code number?? I don't think so, as it was a recent purchase. What is that?

I guess I'm a noob, are all lug keys different? I found a replacement set of 5 with a key on craigslist. I have the stock rims rhino lined with Goodyear wrangler tires and haven't left it parked outside of my garage since.

When you get locking lugs, there is typically a card with a security code on it to reorder a key, in case you lose the original.

If someone has your security code, they can order an additional key and then come back and steal your wheels. But it's not really appropriate here, because they already HAVE your key. I'd recommend getting new wheel locks all around, and pitching those locks. You wouldn't want them on any cars in your driveway since the thief has the key. He could bring it back and try it on all the vehicles parked there.

Just called dealership; apparently I can just go to discount tire and get them taken off with a master key.

Crazy. As it's a fairly sizable thing I can't imagine someone not noticing a person spending the time to remove it and carry it away.

So, all wheel/tire thieves are issued a master lugbolt key now?

When I was at discount tire they said that they would have to cut and replace the lug bolt if I lost the key... I don't think anyone gets issued a master key.

ALSO: this was in the middle of the day, in my driveway, which most feel is pretty safe neighborhood. Timeframe was within 2 hours of when a friend left, a when I left the house.

I called discount tire and they said that they have a set of universal keys that they can try out with no charge. But if none of them fit, then it's $10 per lug. $50 with the back tire :-/ that's twice the new lock lugs

I've got an extra glove box and charging cables laying around I could let you have for $49.
