My first Wrangler

Hi everyone i just purchased my new 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited!
I am very happy with it!
BUT i do have ONE concern, due to what i can afford, it is a 2wd....yes i know what youre thinking..

My question is if i put a lift and some tires. Can i mud to a certain extent? if so to what extent. Light trail mud? I know i wont be able to go through deep mud. What do you guys think?

The cost difference between the 2wd and a lift and tires could have landed you 4wd.

First thing I'd consider would be a rear locker over the lift and tires.

I went more places than most 4x4s when I had a locker in the rearend of my truck. Yeah ur not going to be mud bogging but u can do alot of trails.

You can always save up and convert yours to 4x4. It has been done several times but if you shop around for used parts it would be cheaper. All you need is a front axle, driveshafts, and a transfer case

Congrats on the new jeep tho!

A rear locker minimum, like onetraveller said, would be my first edition in your shoes.

Check craigslist. A lot of guy building rock crawler sell front axles and transfer cases. In most cases the cost is fairly cheap.

You'll need a front axle, transfer case, front and rear drive shafts, a different output shaft for your transmission, a new wiring harness....

Just sell it and get a 4x4. That is the cheapest, most efficient and best way to go 4x4.

Now if you were going to build a full custom, starting with a 4x2 wouldn't matter.
