My first wrangler! Horn issue

I just got my first wrangler on thursday. And its already got rained on with the top off. Whoops. But anyways, one of the horn fuses was blown when i got it so i replaced it. Well it worked for the day, then the next day when i was picking up a buddy i honked once and the fuse blew again. Its got the correct fuse in it, but im not an electrician. Any ideas?

my 08 JK horn sounds like a hopeless girly-man with a 1/2 second delay before working after hitting the 'horn' button....pathetic engineering afterthought that needs replacing....

you aren't missing anything, maybe find something better & post it here for us to admire....

I've shopped for suitable upgrade and haven't decided on anything yet.

Your jeep is talking to you. It's telling you that your horn is weak and it wants to be more horny.

Therefore, you must upgrade to a train horn. You want it, your jeep wants it and people on this forum want it. And since you already drive with the top off in the rain, you should do the public a courtesy by letting them know that your rained out jeep is coming.

Haha an upgraded horn would be nice but I'm afraid that the horn wouldn't work either. There's gotta be a short or something somewhere if it keeps blowing fuses. I just have no idea where to start!!?

If there were a short that is blowing the fuse and I had to guess, I would say it was in the horn itself.

My thinking is this.. The fuse is fine until you use the horn, which means the horn contacts on the steering wheel are not shorting out.

Once you press on the steering wheel, it sends power to the horn ( probably with some kind of internal short) and blows the fuse. If it's not the horn itself, you would have to follow the positive wire from the horn all the way back to the steering wheel to make sure the wire is not damaged and grounding out when the horn is pressed.

Of course, I could be completely wrong...

If it's under warranty, take it in. If it's not, take it to an automotive electrician before your horn short drains your battery and leaves you stranded.
