Using the proclip. its nice having the ability to pop in and out. Grab some ghost armor or zagg for rear protection and your set...

I was having cosistancy issues with the fiberglass so i decided to try a new manufacturing method, heat vaccum forming, using abs plastic. Due to the cost, I only ordered enough Abs plastic to make 2 iPad mounts. On my first attempt I couldn't get enough uniform heat on the entire sheet to allow for proper forming. I bought a new heater and tried again, with the same first piece. On my second attempt, with the first piece, I over heated the plastic and melted a hole in it. On the third attempt it worked almost perfectly but I wasn't prepared for how hot it was gonna be, I should have worn oven mitts.

There are two sides to the plastic, smooth and textured. The textured turned out like bedliner. I'll post another picture of it mounted in a day or so.

I just re-ordered enough material to do another 2 mounts. I think I'm gonna try doing one smooth and the other textured.

Looks small enough to send through a 3D printer. If you had a 3D CAD model of it there are services online that will print it out in plastic. Might even be able to make it a dock where the mini slides in from the side like a giant SD card.

Nice work. I'd like to run a tablet in my jeep. I have the grandfathered ATT data plan also so it's unlimited data.

I'm done with two of the mounts and ready for sale. I'm gonna throw them on Ebay tomorrow.

It can fit in front of the stock head unit, but the area below the radio is very tight:

I'm not sure yet. I have to go through my receipts and break down the cost per piece, add to that the cost to ship and some money for my time/ effort. I was planning on putting it on eBay to try to figure out what people will pay.

I should mention that for the Ipad Mini mount, I can cut a slot on the passenger side to allow the Ipad to slide in and out, instead of "hard mounting" it.

Thanks Sully, congrats on the new iPad

bay auctions are started:

iPad Mini Mount for 2011 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK | eBay
iPad 1 2 3 4 Mount for 2011 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK | eBay

If this forum won't allow linking to an ebay auction just search ebay for "iPad mount jeep wrangler" or search for seller "olsen185"

If you could design one that mounts to the double din screws and hangs out in front of the factory head unit you would be rich quick.Keep factory head unit and use connect for Bluetooth calls ect, and use steering wheel controls for the factory head unit. I am looking at something similar for the Nexus 7 I have coming.

Which dash are you talking about, 07-10 or 11-13?

I'm thinking there could be a way to install a mini into the dash that would retain the 2011+ dash style. It just looks weird to me to have that squareish mount sitting on a relatively curvy dash. If you ever redesign I would recommend a more round and smooth shape.

If you are willing to hack up your dash you can make a simple plate to support the back of the ipad and mount the ipad from the rear of the dash. You would need to enlarge the opening by about an inch on top. All this would keep the stock look/ lines of the dash, but it would be irreversible. I wanted to make something that would be completely reversible with little or no permanent modifications needed. If I rounded the top of the mount more, it would not be usable for full sized iPads.

Thanks for the comments and ideas.

For everyone sending me pm's: yes I will be making some more of these. For the past month or so I have been working on my house every spare second I have when I'm not at work. My kitchen project is almost done so I anticipate making a few more of these in the next week or so. I'll post here when I have some ready. Thanks for the interest!!

Hey guys just a quick update. My job recently announced a promotional test for the first week of June. All of my time in the past month has gone towards studying. After the test I plan on producing 10 or so mounts (11-13) for everyone that is interested.

After I catch up with the requests ill start looking into the 07-10 mounts again
