My Jeep lasted 80 miles

New to Forum, so hello all. Picked up new 12 JKU Sahara last Tuesday. Right away noticed wouldn't start sometimes and while driving a/c fan would vary its speed. Friday would not start. It would turn over normal speed for half a crank and make a funny sound. After 1/2 hour of playing with it, it started. Dropped off at dealer with 80 miles. They give me stripped Liberty rental. Service rep calls saturday and says its an intergrated power module and should be here by wednesday. Well as you can guess its wed and now its tomorrow before it will be in. When I spoke to him he asked if I heard from sales manager yet, I said no. 20 minutes later my salesman calls and asks if there are any other colors I like. Looks like if they can't get it fixed for me tomorrow they r going to give me a new one. Searched threads saw some older ones on TIPM, but nothing recent. Anyone else have this problem recently? Salesman said kind of uncommon thats why they r having trouble getting one for my Jeep.

Try to squeeze some wheels and tires or a lift out of the dealer for your headache. Sorry to hear man.

I would really go in and come out with a new jeep also have them do a lift and off road tire package for you free of charge if your firm with them you can get it no questions asked

It sounds like they'll make it right for you in the end. See if you can't get a few more bells and whistles thrown in for free on the exchange.

When I spoke with salesman I did make a comment that if I get there at 1130 thursday (part due at 1100) and they are not able to please me I would stand in their driveway while I phone Chrysler. He did not like that. Hopefully they will make it right tomorrow one way or the other.

Ok hear is how you get what you want out of them today call another dealer up ask if they can match or better the offer you got on your jeep THEY WILL then call back to the place you have your jeep at and let them know if they don't compensate for your headache you will return the jeep and go to the other dealer. TRUST ME I have done this many times and had dealers fighting for my business it works.

I would tread lightly:

They could make you wait up to 30 days.

My 2012 Rubicon had a problem with the TIPM module also. The right electric door lock would not work. Not as drastic of a problem as yours.
They replaced the power module and had to splice a wire in to the harness. Not what you would want to hear after spending 30k.
Problem was fixed in 2days by another dealer than the one I bought it from. The dealership I bought it from would not give me a loaner vehicle so I brought it to another dealership!

I think the TIPM module is a bigger problem than what Chrysler is saying.

Its not the dealerships fault. They are trying to give you a new one and I doubt they are going to profit off this some how. Most people right away say " I wish I wouldve got this" this is your chance to get that one option you missed out on.

Don't get me wrong. I realize it's not their fault but it is disheartening to buy a 37K vehicle and only have it 3 days. Now I'm paying for it but driving a stripped out Liberty that smells like somebody had been smoking in it. I just want what's right and I would be happy with my Jeep back if they could fix the issue or just as happy with a new one. The salesman basically said Chrysler is the one that's going to eat it, not them, they just want me happy so I keep coming back. This is the 2nd Jeep I bought from them, had an 06 Grand Cherokee. Also previously owned a 90 Wrangler and 95 Cherokee- I am a Jeep fan, just having some bad luck with this one.

Agreed, I think I'd take the "are there any other colors you like" option. Electrical issues at 80 miles just doesn't sit well with me. I wasn't quite sure what all a TIPM is connected to but after doing a quick search, everything in the vehicle. So my point is, maybe it switched some bad voltages to some components and damaged them as well. If the dealer can offer a replacement vehicle that is acceptable in it's options and color, I think I'd definitely take it myself over potentially more electrical components failing (or already failed and they find out when replacing the TIPM) down the road.

Don't listen to all the pathetic nudges telling you to have the dealer give you a lift and tires for your trouble. They didn't build the jeep, they are not the reason it is broken. Nice to see they are offering you a new vehicle right away.

Im in the Ft Lauderdale area. Using Arrigo Jeep/Chrysler at Commercial Blvd and Sawgrass Expwy. They also have another location in West Palm on Okeechobee Blvd.
I'll update tomorrow after I go see if they fixed it or what they end up doing for me.

I agree, the dealer didn't cause the problem. If they give you run around they deserve the same but if they didn't or dont then I wouldn't try to cause them troubles. It may come back to haunt you. You could be like people I know. We found a zip tie had broken off of a radiator hose on my 2012 JKU and the guy wanted me to drive to the dealer and demand they fix it. I'm thinking cmon now things happen and thats about a 2 second fix at home....
