Everywhere you look is a god damn screensaver

Fischer Towers

Heading deeper towards delores river...

Part of the way to delores river, saw some beautiful bluffs, and figured a few snaps are in order....

Getting up to the overlook (long LONG drive, area is EXTREMELY remote) we got hungry....being far away from town, time to break out some more emergency good....

Some boars head hotdogs...best damn hotdogs money can buy.....always handy in a food emergency

And finally, some pictures of the actual overlook....

We relaxed here for the next few hours enjoy the view and the breeze, and then packed up and headed back to town. This also gave me a chance to test out my offroad lights, which didn't disappoint...it's like driving around with the sun.

Seriously - some of the best pictures of Moab I've ever seen...and I've been there! Awesome place and treacherous if you aren't careful as you found. I do have to say I'm going to re-pack my emergency rations with steak. My wife will think I'm nuts, but if I bring an emergency bottle of wine...

Glad you liked the Colorado portion of the trip once you got off the plains. Those of use that live here love it too.

BTW...there are a few of us Crush JK's out here

Can you do Moab in a stock JK?
Absolutely. You can have TONS of fun, and see incredible sites. You wont be able to run the super hardcore trails, but most of those aren't the "pretty ones"...Im actually not big on rockcrawling but rather expedition/exploring, and other than a few places, I don't think a stock rig would have any trouble. I was also alone (vehicle wise) so I didnt want to get in over my head as help isn't easily obtained.

Love it!

Does one just show up in Moab, or is it a scheduled kind of thing?

Regarding your images, I have a few questions:

1. What lens(s) did you use on the 5d3?

2. Did you have/use any on-camera filters (nd/cp) or is your effect all done in post processing?

Very envious of your journey. I've started to get the itch to travel like this (I've never really been anywhere), and this has certainly turned that itch into more of a rash... LOL!

I LOVE Vail: been skiing there a number of times. By any chance, did you have dinner at Red Lion Inn?
No, unfortunately not. Most places were closed that I tried, and being tired and hungry, we went to the closest place that wasn't fast food, but the name escapes me. It was recommended by my friend that lives in Eagle Vail.

I would love to go to moab. Unfortunately I would have to plan around colorado.. And being from Missouri I know exactly where that cross pic was taken. I never laughed at it though.

Im not laughing at the cross as a religious symbol. I just found it funny that there are so many religious billboards and religious highway "attention grabbers." We don't see/have things like that in the tri-state area, not need to think that I'm some sort of anti-religious nut.

You bet! People really need to take a vacay with the Jeep, really adds a whole other level of adventure to it. If I had more time, I would have stopped a lot more along the way to check the country out, but sadly, we were on a time crunch.

I just got back from a trip to Moab that I took in my JKU. I don't have any pictures as cool as seen here. One funny thing I saw at Canyonlands National Park (the other N.P. by Moab) was this bird that went into somebody else's JKU whose front hard top panels were off and stole a small bag of Pistachio nuts off the back seat.

The second picture below shows my JKU at Kodachrome Basin State Park that is south west of Moab.

My only regret was not installing the bug deflector before the trip. But I did do the gutter guard grill mod that not only looks nice but is practical - things like the insect shown in the last picture don't make it to the radiator.

I was thinking: do I wash my Jeep or keep the sacred Moab dirt on it..

I actually didn't kill a lot of bugs in Moab, but colorado?! My god....apparently one gas station employee told me it's "hatch" season for some flys by the river...there were literally plagues of them. as for birds, the last time I was in Moab, I was lucky enough to snap this pic.....

What size tires are you running? The 3.21 gearing is why I'm sticking to the Stock 255/75/R17's. I live in Southern CA, so I spend about 95% of the time on interstates and 5% on offroad trails. So MPG is kind of an important issue. But I get alot better milage in my 2013 JKU than my 99 TJ ever did. I will switch to an LT when I beat these stock tires up. Same size tire, just more meat on it.
