So I have had my new 2011 wrangler sport for about 10 days now. First Jeep and I love it!!
I was going to pull the trigger on a Sahara, but found a good deal on a Sport which was pretty much loaded (paid 4% below invoice). I think I prefer the fenders on the Sport anyhow - lower maintenance than the body colored ones.
I have not taken this off-road. I want to let the new car smell go before I do that. Right now I am using this as a daily driver. The ride is smooth and with the hard top it is very quiet. My first tank of gas averaged about 18 mpg. Overall I love the drive and everything about this Jeep. The only small negative I have is with access to the rear seat - kind of difficult and poorly designed mechanism. Not such a big deal, as I rarely have passengers.
I have just completed my first mods -
1. I had a JVC KW-NT3HDT installed. It is great, has Nav, Bluetooth, HD radio, DVD etc. I reason I choose this is because it has a removable face, which is a good security feature. I ordered it from Crutchfield for about $850 shipped with all the harnesses and connectors. Which makes it about $550 cheaper than the factory Nav and Bluetooth.
2. I installed a Mopar front bumper/ skid plate and Superwinch LP8500.
3. Added locking gas cap cover.
4. Removed stickers from the side.
I am not planning to do a lift or change wheels/ tires right now. I think my next mods will be the Superchips when the 2011 software is released and may be some windshield mounted aux lights. I was thinking of installing a CAI. But after reading all of the threads on here, decided that it is not worth it.
