My new LED OEM replacement fog lamps....

I know there's been a lot of talk (especially among those of us that replaced our OEM headlights with the excellent Quadratec's) about what to do with the dim, almost orange, OEM incandescent fogs. I did quite a bit of searching here and there, and finally opted for these:

WOW! These suckers are bright. Too bright? I don't think I'll be able to run them as "running lights" as I had been with the stock versions. They almost seem as bright as the QT's!

Didn't have any issues with installing them, save for a bit of finger hunting trying to get them in place.

Anyway, wanted to pass these along. So far I like them, and they definitely match the color temp of the LED headlamps. Next I may invest in some white/flash yellow turn signal lamps, and use them as running lights instead of the stock yellow ones, such as these...

Does anyone know if these require any kind of load resistors to be used up front? CG

Yes. The moulding was just ever-so-slightly different (by less than a millimeter) but with some pressure they pop right into the housings on the 10A/X metal bumper on my 2015 Rubicon. Wiring harness is an exact match. Took two minutes to install. CG

I have read in several places that the LED bulbs that fit the regular front bumper fogs, don't fit the 10A/X/HR bumper fogs.

So, I too wonder if the LED bulbs the OP used, just happen to be made sloppy enough that once can force fit them into a 10A/X/HR bumper?

Personally, I would rather wait for the correct ones to be available.

I ordered that same set and they would not fit into my housing. I will either have to mod the housing, remove the rubber o-ring, or somehow find a thinner material o-ring to make them work.
Additionally, I had to file off a tab on the side of where the plug connects (it is opposite what the Jeep requires), and had to remove 2 of the 3 aligning tabs on the outside of the light.
I was disappointed, not only that these don't fit, but that Chrysler went to the crappy PSX24W bulbs in the first place!

I have the regular Rubicon (and everything else?) bumper so I don't think it is variance with that side of it.

They mfgr may also expect people to cut some tabs on the light to help them fit better... which would be okay except if that fit isn't super snug it's going to leak into the housing.

For what it's worth, NoGaBiker had a thread on these same fog lamps (at least the picture looks like the same packaging) and he didn't have any fitment issues with his Willys. Several other people chimed in that they were getting them (me included), but I don't remember anyone having a problem with them. Mine aren't installed yet, because my thumbs aren't strong enough to get the stock bulbs out. :(

For me what was off was not the clips themselves, but the alignment teeth on the round edges of the bulb. There's 2 on one side and 1 on the other to get it aligned. That would probably be the best thing for me to remove (from the bulb itself) if another pair has the same issue.

Great thing about amazon is it's super easy to return / exchange!

I just upgraded to a 10a bumper I bought used, and before I put it on the vehicle I took the opporunity to try these lights again. I got them to work and thought I'd share exactly what I did.

  1. Take the fog-light assemblies off the bumper. With the 10a bumper this is really, really easy. I never tried with the original Rubicon bumper. This just makes it easier to see and work with without being in an awkward position.
  2. You'll need to trim two of the key tabs off of the lightbulb. On the side of the bulb with only 1 key tab, trim off that one. Use a Dremel or other tool to file the plastic smooth.
  3. On the other side of the bulb, with the two key tabs, find the one that isn't sliding into the groove exactly and remove it. Cut and use a Dremel or other tool to file the plastic smooth.
  4. I still couldn't get the o-ring slide into the bulb housing and stay put, so I tried placing a few drops of lubricant on the o-ring itself. After a few minutes of working it in, it would slide and snap into the housing smoothly. I was careful there was no spilling on the bulb or housing.

Hope that helps.

I installed these on my Hard Rock and the 2nd set of O-rings they sent with were the solution to make one fit. The seller was great with communication and responded quickly with any concerns I had.

I wanted the fogs to match the LED JW Speaker headlights.
