My NEW(to me) 11 JK!

I've recently purchased a 2011 JK with a hard top. I've still got factory warranty but noticed no matter how many times I remove and install the "freedom" tops there is a leak. When I come to a stop in the rain I get drops falling right above the center seal over the radio. It seems to only happen after a hard rain but it seems like a pain in the ass. Anyone have this issue and/or is it worth it to try and look for a warranty repair? Loving all the threads with great advice and helpful folks. Sad to be rid of my TJ but looking forward to many great years with my new JK!

I found a ton about soft tops but after checking again found a thread about hard top leaks. Doesn't sound like great news lol. Thanks!

Make sure the center seal between the two tops is seated properly. Sometimes when you place the panels back on, it pinches the seal allowing water to find its way in. You can check by standing on the front bumper and looking at the seam...if there's rubber sticking up between the panels, readjust them accordingly. Don't slide the panels together but gently 'drop' the drivers side to avoid the pinch. Hopefully that will help you out.

Congrats on the new ride.

If this is your first Wrangler welcome to the club.

Two things you'll need to come to terms with before you can sit back and enjoy the ride;

1.) Wrangler tops all leak some water somewhere.
2.) Wranglers get poor gas milage.

Most all tops soft or hard will leak at some point. It's really up to each how much this concerns you. My old 2010 JK actually didn't leak and never had a problem from zero miles to 38K. I traded it in and picked up a 2013. Hoping for the same amount of luck but don't really worry either way.

Checke for pinched seals as suggested. In addition, don't over-tighten the Freedom panel "screws" that go in the sound bar. Over-tightening causes the panels to lift off the front seal. They should be tightened lightly. In fact, leave them off if you wish.

If it's under warranty why not take it in and have the dealership deal with it. Next time it leaks, pull out the camera and take a little video and show that to them.

Welcome!

One thing maybe worth checking: the front L-Shapped clamp thingy where the two freedom top panels come together, there's an Allen head screw in it that holds it into the panel. Mine started to leak just like you're describing and I realized that screw was a little loose. After tightening it just a little bit, no more leak. If you tighten it too much, you'll hardly be able to swivel it. It's worth a shot.
