My wife wants to test drive a 4 door JK

My wife just graduated nursing school and is in search of a new job. We are about to pay off her Honda and it is my turn for a new vehicle. I have wanted a Jeep for a long time and she has decided she likes the looks of the 4 door. We are going to take a test drive this weekend. If all goes well I maybe getting my jeep soon! I would prefer the 2 door, but we are thinking about rug rats soon. I'm just excited she has warmed up to the idea of a Jeep in the family. She has been dropping the word minivan an awful lot for the last year. I want none of that.

Will a minivan go offroad? Can you roll sans top and doors in a minivan? I think not.

Sell the Jeep to her. Hard.

Better a JKU than a mini van--and no JEEP--honestly 4dr will be easier with the little ones. I considered a 4 door before I got the JK but I REALLY don't need 4 doors--look at LIL RED that is my 90% driver.

Good Luck!!

JKU best all around choice, for any size family, IMHO.

Initially I was going for the 2-door, but had my 12yo nephew with me. -Skinny 90lb kid had trouble getting in the back seat! That was the decision maker to get JKU version. -Honestly!

Seriously, a Jeep versus a minivan? Snap out of it man! Get the Jeep or the next thing you know, you'll be driving a minivan, wearing button-up V-neck sweaters and sitting down to pee.

Get the Jeep, listen to her input, find the compromises that will put you in the Jeep.

Then "break it in" together out in the woods in good health as you both feel your lives change for the better!

Yeah I went there. That's how I know.

My wife is an RN. Congrats to your wife!

I had to drive a minivan for 9 years and to be honest.....it was perfect for us because we took a lot of family trips. Thank god it broke last year and I FINALLY got to choose a vehicle I wanted instead of what we needed. (kids are now 13 & 17) A brand new 2011 JKU! But yes....definitely go with the 4 door.

yeah I have been laying JP mags around the house, when you look at jeeps on the internet the next time you go anywhere the cookies trigger ads for jeeps and jeep stuff....... Pointing out jeeps around town for months. In the end it is my new vehicle, but if the other half hates it it will cause problems. Fingers crossed for now.

Remember. It easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission. Go get the jeep! Get the 4 door JKU so you don't have to sell it and risk another minivan attempt from the wife.

I could not agree more. I've told her NO to a minivan for a year now. I told her she is more than welcome to trade her car in on one after I get a new vehicle. I think she will love the jeep. I have test driven both and prefer the 2 door, but the 4 door was not bad at all. We shall see...maybe she will want her own.

I think I'm the only girl/ wife/ mom on this thread so I'll represent the female opinion. Get the 4 door and she will fall IN LOVE she won't even remember that yucky "M" word! I won't allow my hubby to drive my Jeep. He can drive his FJ and I drive my Jeep ( this makes for a very fun household by the way ) so you'll want to see if you can get a two for one deal. That way she can have her proud soccer mom sticker on hers and you can have your Calvin and Hobbs urinating on an FJ cruiser logo ( I'm just sayin).

You will really appreciate the 4 door. I know I would have preferred the 2 door in very few situations but the extra room comes in handy far more. I still would like more room for stuff but that is what roof racks are for. Don't have kids yet but the dogs love it too.

I put my wife through nursing school and seeing how hard she worked I think she deserves whatever she wants and the both of you can afford. Nip that minivan crap in the bud and let her have the 4 door. However, tell her since she insists on a 4 door that you insist on the rubicon package.

Minivan? If you cave and get a minivan you might as well lop off your balls and let her use them as a paper weight. You WILL BE emasculated if you get a minivan. I'd rather walk; I couldn't get over the embarrassment. Stay strong and don't cave! You can tell her that since you are so sensitive, you will compromise and get the 4dr JKUR!

well the way i look at it you opt for the 4 door,,, let me explain,, the 4 door has more room,,,, then you go off road were its nice and peaceful ,, then you end up with rug burns,,, then in less than a year you have rug rats.... see it all works out in the end,,,

Warning!!!!

Don't let her test drive a 2012 JKU automatic w/4.10's unless you're ready to buy, cuz ur gonna drive away w/one and if she goes topless, you're gonna want his and hers.

Oh, and pics please!!!

ETA: minivans will cause a severe drop in testosterone and even if she's a nurse, she won't be happy with that outcome!!!

Get kidney stones. Have surgery just before Christmas. Be laid up in bed over Christmas. She will feel bad that you missed the Holiday and will go buy it for you!! .... Well at least that is what my wife did.

To add to my early post if you buy used and get an 11' or earlier you can tell her it has a mini van engine. Haha.

Edit- I think the pentastar is going in minivans too so either way you have an argument. I wish I would have waited and got the new setup.

My wife came around to the Jeep thing. A 4 dr. I have never seen her so excited about a new vehicle. What is hilarious is that after a while she said we need to get this thing up in the air a little. And so it has begun.
Another huge plus of the Jeep being the wife's is that on the weekend it is usually what we drive. So for me its like driving a brand new Jeep every week.
