MyGig/Uconnect Addtion

Ok so my question is, when I install a MyGig RBZ into my 2013 Wrangler with lock pick, will the addition of this (MYGIG MICROPHONE) also activate my Uconnect? I was stupid when I bought my Wrangler and didn't get the connectivity group like I should have. I did get the Alpine speakers but the basic radio without ucconnect. Sorry if this question has been answered but I couldn't find anyone adding the non GPS MyGig to a non uconnect Wrangler. Thank you in advance for your help.

nope, it won't. That mic is for the 730 & 730N radios that have Uconnect built into them. Your radio will need the Mopar kit PN 82212159 & the optional iPod / USB cable PN 82212160. (about $300 online for both pieces). Then the vehicle will need to be flashed by the dealer for code "RSP" (about $50 if you call around).

So bluetooth isn't built into the RBZ radio at all?

No, for REN, RHB, and RBZ you have to have the add on UConnect kit.

The lesson here (for those trying to figure out what options to get)......get Connectivity from the factory unless you plan on gutting the entire system.

What do you mean by "gut the system"? You can add the Mopar kit & iPod cable for about $350 if you do the install yourself, then go to the dealer to have the vehicle flashed to code "RSP".

A lot of aftermarket units have Bluetooth built in already, so if you don't get Connectivity up front, but are gutting the system anyway....it would not matter.

If you don't plan on gutting it, you are better off getting Connectivity from the factory....that way you get the EVIC and such....plus everything is already set up.

The Mopar kit and cable, plus dealer flash will add at least $400 to your price (plus what you paid for the new HU). Might as well put that towards a good aftermarket system.

While I do somewhat agree with most of your statement the only part that one would want to consider is that the factory systems are good only for Chrysler vehicles and also that the newer radios are VIN locked with a security code. So they are less likely to get stolen than an attractive aftermarket radio that can fit into any vehicle with a cheap kit.
Also one must check with their insurance company to make sure the new aftermarket radio will be covered if it is stolen. Most Insurance companies will cover them as long as you have the receipt. However, I have heard of some not covering aftermarket equipment. Not to mention that if it did get stolen, would their Insurance rate go up?

I have seen firsthand what an installer did putting in an aftermarket HU in the missus '09. It was not pretty and took me a couple of weeks to solve when installing an RBZ in her rig.

Don't get me wrong.....I prefer the factory HU for all the reasons you mentioned....even if it is a total PITA to upgrade the amp. I ordered a 130 on my Sahara (with Connectivity) because I knew I was going to go with a 430 (non-nav) RBZ. I only wish I my RBZ would have had the securtiy code feature as well (my RBZ came out of a 2010). On a vehicle as unsecure as a Wrangler, I prefer having a less "attractive" factory system.

If I were going to buy a new Sport and I knew that I was going to put a better system in it (risk of theft aside), I would pass on the Premium sound, and maybe pass on Connctivity as well. That right there would pay for a high quality aftermarket HU that would have Bluetooth/mic and Nav. You give up the EVIC, but it would be so much easier to install you own amps and such.

However, if planned on keeping a factory HU of some sort, I would make sure I ordered Connectivity (and Sirius) from the factory. It makes the plug and play swap of a 430/430N a 15 minute job at most.....no dealer flash involved. Plus you have full function of all steering wheel controls and EVIC.

Lesson still being learned... oh what an expensive lesson it is too

So with me being stupid and buying a Wrangler without the connectivity group and the 130 radio, I now have a 430/non nav RBZ, when I buy the bluetooth kit (http://www.quadratec.com/products/96080_9004.htm) I have to have a dealer flash as well? or can I just plug all this stuff in and have it up and working?

Question:
I'm getting a 2013 10th anniversary which comes standard with the connectivity package and the 130N.

If I were to get a RBZ 430 radio will it be simple plug and play and retain all features if connectivity like Bluetooth streaming, hands free, etc...?

I like the idea of a nice touchscreen unit but not at 1000 dollars. If I found one for a couple hundred I'd be interested.

Yup...if you get the right one, it is 100% plug and play....BUT.....there are two possible issues.

1. Dealing with Sirius to get you trial subscription transferred sucks.
2. The newest versions have blue LED buttons instead of green. Not a big deal since he screen is blue, but I just want to make you aware.

Outside of that...I LOVE having an rbz. I have no clue as to why Jeep does not make this a factory option for $400-$500.

I'm sure you know which serial numbers would be included in the blue or green range. Is there a certain production number or serial number that would show it was blue or green?

For instance does it tell you the year if it say "anti-theft" on the front?

My question is do I need a separate mic so it can work.

Please excuse me as I'm a newbie here and jumping in late on this thread. I've got a 2013 Sahara with UConnect/Sirius XM Alpine system. I'm thinking about swapping in a MyGig and just so I'm clear and don't go looking/buying the wrong unit... if I'm understanding this correctly... all I need is one of the 430/430N models and nothing else? Really?

Does it need to be from another 2013 model?
All UConnect functions will work?
What about the anti-theft circuitry?
Do I need any additional wiring harnesses? or plastic bezels?
No dealer computer flash is needed?
Anything else I need to know?

I'm in no rush as I've still got 5+ months of SiriusXM subscription left but would like to start the shopping process to gather all needed parts.

Thanks in advance for all replies.
