Mysterious water in my rig

Yesterday I got in my JKU and there was a good inch of standing water in the passenger side. Top and doors were all on. I had parked next to a tall curb and we had a torrental downpour, water 6" deep on the sidewalkand a river running down the street. Needless to say, we pulled all the carpet and the tub plugs, dried it out and are leaving carpets out to thouroughly dry, maybe for good. I'm not overly concerned that there was water in the rig, it should be able to handle that right? I'd just like to know how it got in! Any theories out here?
Thanks.

Yeah it leaked in around the doors or top. Just because they are on doesnt mean they sealed properly. The Jeep will be fine.

An additional observation I made in the last PNW rain flurry we had, with bucket sized drops coming down:

I parked slightly nose down slant. Opening the door there was an incredible stream running along the side of the Freedom top pouring from the front corner into either A) the door pocket depending on how wide I held the door; or B) directly into the driver foot space.

My 08 has not had any issues with being wet inside otherwise.

When I checked this morning, there was more water. It rained last night again. I'll reseat the freedom tops today. I forgot to mention that we had the doors off for the first time over the weekend. They probably aren't seated right either. Guess we'll pop 'em off just to be sure they were put back on correctly.

Look at the seal on the doors, sometimes they get in a bind or pulled loose when removing or storing them.

It could be your AC. My ZJ leaks water in the passenger side due to a blockage in the AC unit where excess water(condensation) should leak out into the road, but instead leaks into the carpet... simple fix, just have to blow air through the line to clear out. Common occurrence if you off road a lot. Wrangler could be a lot different than the ZJ, but maybe not.
