I need advice on a mess up that I did today. I was out on a tank trail on Fort Riley and went through what appeared to be a small water hole. It wasn't
I sucked up some water into the motor. The jeep shuttoff as soon as I got 30feet out of the hole. I took off the Aircleaner cover and water was in the box. I let the vehicle dry out for about an hour. I had to tap on the starter to get it to crank over. Once it started all I'm hearing in either a cracked piston or rocker and lifter noise I nursed it back to my barracks. I pulled the spark plugs and cranked it over. No water came out. The block isn't cracked. It just sounds like a diesel motor. I checked the oil and there is a little bit of water in the oil but not much. Tomorrow, I'm going to change the oil and let it run for 5 minutes, then change the oil again and see if that helps any. Then go from there. The Jeep is new with 8,000 miles on it. I don't know if I can get this fixed under warranty. With this being a jeep. It shouldn't be this easy to get water into the motor. The water was only 1/2 - 3/4 of the way up my tires. I wasn't no were near up to he inlet on the breather. I know next time I go through water I will have a snorkel installed. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
